Never stop learning

Real vitality is physical, emotional and spiritual.
-Elizabeth Clare Prophet, Co-Author, Your Seven Energy Centers

Your Seven Energy Centers is a fascinating book. I took my husband to the emergency room today so I had hours and hours to read it.

He is feeling better. So am I. Sometimes what we need is literally at our fingertips. The way the information is presented is consciously, practically and inspires reflection and inspection. It is also purse size so you can carry it around with you anywhere.

I am sure I will have more to comment on later. You can order your copy here.

What is Fatigue? Symptoms of Fatigue

Fatigue - it affects women and men and most are completely unaware of it ... Fatigue, so easily blamed on anything and everything but the physical cause. I'm fine but ... tired of him/her or the kids, I got up too early, went to bed too late, PMS, too many or too few hormones, I worked out too hard or not enough, lack of motivation or smarts or ambition or inspiration or ...

Symptoms of Fatigue: Depression, insomnia, strained relationships (tired of him/her), constipation, feelings of confusion and overwhelm, short temper, lack of motivation, head aches, hair loss, weight gain especially around the middle, moodiness and food cravings, lack of interest in sex and dry eyes (to name a few.) Fatigue acts out in procrastinating, pessimism, isolating and withdrawing from friends, favorite activities and clubs. Too tired for fun, walking the dog, meeting new people or staying in touch with friends and family. Fading back ...

Blood Type Diet - Never stop learning - 4 Blood Types, 4 Diets

I have good news and bad news. First the good news.

As your energy returns so do all those hours in the day that were given away to the couch, the brain fog and the "victim" syndrome. And, as you do what you need to do to get your groove back it will become easier to do more for yourself and to help others.

This week I spent hours researching Dr. Peter D'Adamo's Blood Type Diet. I learned about 4 Blood Types, 4 Diets and the Eat Right Diet to help my husband clean out and heal from a 20 year migraine problem. Today while shopping at yet another health food store I reflected back to my first such shopping spree ...

It was 2 years ago. I was the patient. It was overwhelming. Partly because I was so tired. Partly because it was so foreign. Spelt? Millet? dairy free this, gluten that. That first time I shopped till I dropped, literally. I cried on the drive home. The journey seemed endless and tasteless and bleak and ...

I have come along way. Didn't cry today. I felt great researching this and that for my love,
Mr. Type "O" Blood.

If you are now where I was then, don't despair. The good news is that if you keep doing what you need to do for yourself there really is a light at the end of the tunnel. Take it one day at a time and before you know it ...

The bad news. Oh it isn't really that bad. It is best summed up in one of my favorite quotes.

"Change is not without discomfort, even from worse to better."

It isn't comfortable having to learn a new diet whether it is the Blood Type Diet or the Low Glycemic Diet or the detox diet or ... It isn't fun putting up with crap from people who are uncomfortable when you change. (Beware of family and friends who will tempt you back to the trough or bar stool to maintain their comfort level.)

My best advice is to hang out with friends and family who want to head in your direction -- health. They can follow or they can lead. It is fun taking turns!

You are what you think about most.
-Catherine Wambach

This is a reminder for you to watch your thoughts. Better yet, choose your thoughts carefully. Are you spending a lot of time feeling tired, feeling sorry for yourself, feeling helpless? Join the club - the human being club. Been-there-done-that.

BUT the good news is you don't have to stay there. Shift into a new gear with a gentle walk through the leaves or call a friend who needs to be cheered up or journal about how great you feel (fake it till you make it) or write out your vision for the perfect Parisian getaway.
Whatever floats your boat - put your focus there. mmmmmm. Feeling better already.

The "Gift" of Fatigue

The gift of fatigue ... where do I begin?

Fatigue slowed me down long enough to fall in love and marry Michael. (The old me was always on the go and alone. Who has time for Love?)

Fatigue made me choose to do "what matters most" vs. "whatever" was on my plate. (The old me was a work-a-holic who couldn't prioritize.)

Fatigue offered no easy recovery solution. It made me search far and wide - grow. I discovered a new, fascinating and fun world that involves all my senses AND my heart, mind and spirit. (Highlights: I've been certified in Reiki, studied Reflexology, built an intimate relationship with God, become nutrition savvy and made many fabulous friends. Now I am learning all about Chakras, aromatherapy and the power of prayer and patience. Fascinating stuff.)

Fatigue armed me with information and been-there-done-that compassion. (I used to be so hard on myself and everyone else. My goal was productivity. Now my goal is love, connection, contribution and en-JOYment.)

Fatigue hung on long enough to make me form healthy habits that now help me stay balanced, grounded, peaceful, confident and happy.
I Love my new life and I am grateful to fatigue for making this possible.

So ... what gifts have you gained, or are you creating, from fatigue? Do share ...

And ... if you want to start clearing out your fatigue and get to your "Why me?" and "Now What?" faster, purchase the Fatigue Be Gone Jumpstart Guide. It is only $9.95 - I've kept the price low so anyone can afford it.
You know what else? It is an internet download product so it is available to you within seconds of payment. Your new life could start NOW.

Get dirty. Feel better.

Today I took the morning off from worrying over a loved one and took on that gardening chore I've been putting off and off and off.

I headed back there with my clippers, weeder, shovel and a prayer of faith tucked into my back pocket on a neon yellow index card. I'd pull, chop and cut and pause to read it and fill my mind with ...

Faith, Faith, Faith. I have faith in God. I have faith in people. I have faith in things.

Faith replaces fear. Faith energizes everything - body, mind and soul. Fear, well, it is that rocking chair that gives a feeling of activity but goes no where.

Anyway, I realized a couple things today.

I realized that the longest part of recovery is the time it takes to get into action. Then the rest just flashes by. (My garden looks great. Nothing to it.)

I realized that faith is awesome. That person I prayed for instead of worrying over? They felt fine and had a great day. So did I.

So the next time you feel really down and out and faithless go out into your garden and get dirty. Take a prayer with you. Exhilarating.

Re-Energize Your Root Chakra .

Red panties in your future?

Reading The Book of Chakras and I am fascinated starting with the root chakra and its color red.
In brief … the Root Chakra is located at the base of the spine and is associated with the adrenals and the adrenal glands are associated with … energy!

The Root Chakra grounds us. According to author Ambika Wauter, its intelligence “helps us to administer our life force. It is concerned with the qualities of order, security, structure and stability that we need to make a viable existence.

The Root Chakra has associated archetypes … The Mother and The Victim.

The balanced root chakra is “The Mother” is as you would imagine – strong, loving, positive, nurturing, self-sufficient, connected to the community, positive, trusting of herself and the process of life. The out of balance root chakra is “The Victim” ruled by outward circumstances, tired out by the weight of the world, hopeless, angry, defensive, impatient, negative, resentful, isolated and fatigued.

I talked about this with a girlfriend in-the-know and she recommended a simple boost “wear red panties.” I’m buying them tomorrow! Maybe you want to nab a pair for yourself and we can compare notes a week or so from now?

What else can you do to strengthen your root chakra? Practice patience, cultivate serenity and a live and let live attitude. Develop meditation skills, keep a gratitude journal, learn how to pray (there are many ways) and get physical in ways that demand your attention -- yoga, a breathing practice, Salsa Dancing, wind surfing …. make it fun.

Fatigue Speedbump ... Energy Vampire ... What hit me?

Today was one of my 4 a.m.ish rise and shine and go to the gym days. And so I did - easily as a matter of fact because I'd gone to bed at 9:00 p.m. the night before. It makes my day when I walk my talk!

Anyway, I got up, bipped off to the gym and had a great workout. I felt strong and oh so invigorated. It was fun.

Then came a delicious breakfast of poached eggs, toast, hash browns, bacon, pancakes, butter, syrup and coffee. Half an hour later I was on the road heading home and going through antics to keep my eyes open. I felt exhausted.

What hit me?

This is what I consider the "fine tuning" phase of my recovery from fatigue.

When my fatigue recovery story began I felt like this all the time. When you feel like c-r-a-p all the live-long-day there are no speed bumps just blahhhhhhh. Now when I feel this way I know to go through a process of elimination ...

Is it an allergy to something I ate? I will try this and omit that with this breakfast until I find the trigger. Maybe I'll need to opt out of this restaurant fare and wait till I get home for my Oatmeal Blueberry Energize ... keep it simple.

If you are feeling tired all the time OR having noticeable bumps during your day PLEASE get and follow the instructions my Fatigue Be Gone Jumpstart e-Guide. Why? Because I want you to get your life back too.

The guide isn't a cure. If you are down way low it probably won't solve all your fatigue issues BUT it will get you on the road. It will help you route out one or more key issues and get them cleared up. Just feeling a "little bit" better can make a HUGE difference. That little bit of relief and extra energy will help you feel better and continue to upgrade your diet, exercise, relationships ...

It takes time to wear yourself out. It takes time to build yourself back up and you can do it. The guide will help.

Then ... a year from now you will notice your speed bumps. You will hit them - need to figure out what you ate, what you were thinking or what you were feeling before the wind was knocked out of your sails. That's great. That's life vs. still life.

Shrimp & Papaya & Mango & Chicken, Oh my...

Just browsing through one of my favorite magazines, Health Magazine, and came across a couple energy boost foods and recipes to share with you!

1. Shrimp. A 3-ounce serving has 14% of our recommended daily amount of energy boosting iron. Furthermore, it recommends that we look for "Wild American" Shrimp because it is free of contamination issues. (Iron carries oxygen to red blood cells to help prevent anemia. Anemia is extremely fatiguing - been there, done that.)

You know what else? This is an easy kapeezy lunch addition. Pack 'em in a Tupperware with a little Tupperware of dipping sauce ... yummy!

2. Papaya-Mango Chicken Salad. Says to mix pre-cooked chicken with fat-free creme cheese, diced papaya, scallions and some mango chutney. Then a dash of salt, pepper and lime juice.

I'll make this for Michael and moi lunch tomorrow - his will be minus the creme cheese 'cause he is lactose intolerant. Well, gotta run off to the grocery store ... See you tomorrow.

Pssst. Have posted a number of energizing recipes here, check 'em out. And, if you want to re-Energize your body, mind and spirit then check out the Fatigue Be Gone! Jumpstart e-Guide. It has what you need and is instantly available upon receipt of payment.

Watch what you notice - your thoughts are magnets

Do you know that you get what you focus on most?

The freshness and beauty of a new season ... the smiles of friends ... an abundance of wealth, health and happiness.

Start small. Look down, look around. Where is your magic showing up today?

Look at what I found in my friend Ardenia's garden last week. So pretty - I had to go back there today with my camera to bring it here to you. Enjoy.

"Hope is like a road in the country; there was never a road, but when many people walk on it, the road comes into existence."
– Lin Yutang

Hope is the ultimate energy boost. It is right up there with gratitude and Love. If you are reading this and feeling low STOP and call a girlfriend and LOVE. Or, start a gratitude list and see how many letters of the alphabet it takes for your energy to start rising. Or, take a moment to close your eyes and visualize the best-case-scenario outcome. Stay with that vision and that warm, happy, hopeful feeling. Our minds are so powerful ... what we hope for and what we can see or feel, we can achieve.

Be well. Think happy thoughts. I am sending you mine.

Adrenal Fatigue and Cortisol Deficiency

According to Dr. Lee, author, What Your Doctor May Not Tell You, the below symptoms may indicate a "cortisol deficiency" caused by tired adrenals.

What tires out our adrenals? The simple everyday mix of juggling a job and juggling a family PLUS a drip of chronic stress -- extended family expectations, financial downsize (or upsize), an illness, a major life change ... (Psst. Any change is stressful, even from worse to better.)

Here are the symptoms of Cortisol Deficiency per Dr. Lee.

Debilitating Fatigue * Unstable blood sugar * Foggy Thinking * Low blood pressure * Thin and/or dry skin * Intolerance to exercise * Brown spots on face

Recognize any of these? Personally I wasn't aware of unstable blood sugar (what test is that?) or my low blood pressure (which I was assured was "fine." See below.) But the rest was me - oh yeah - right down to two large brown spots on my face.

Rule of thumb. Actually, a few.

1. Watch out when Drs. assure you that something is "fine" or "normal" after they remark or call attention to it as in "Boy, you have low blood pressure, has it always been this way?" Then you say something like "I don't know. Is this a problem?" and they say "Of course not, this is normal in lots of people including world-class athletes." (This is an actual conversation that I had with a doctor. BTW, I was not a world-class athlete. I was just a woman who was tired all the time!)

2. Check out Dr. Lee's books: Dr. John Lee's Hormone Balance Made Simple: The Essential How-to Guide to Symptoms, Dosage, Timing, and More and What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About(TM): Premenopause, Balance Your Hormones and Your Life from Thirty to Fifty

3. Cortisol, what is it? It is a steroid hormone manufactured in the adrenal glands. It puts the ump into our fight or flight which is why it is referred to as "the stress hormone."

4. Stress, who needs it. If you feel stressed all the time and your life really isn't "on the line" PLEASE find a way to soothe your spirit and give your hormones a break. One of my somethings is the practice of Reiki. Learn more about it with this easy-to-follow book called "Portable Reiki." In minutes a day you will feel the difference and, like it implies, you can take it and do it anywhere.

5. Stay in touch. We put out a weekly energy-boosting newsletter. (Click there to read "Fatigue & Insomnia -- YIKES!")
