Ahhhhh …. I long for a note from a friend with a funny cartoon inside, a letter from my mother with a check to go “spoil” myself, a note from a girlfriend “just because.”
The thing about notes and letters is that one often has to initiate them. However, once they are in motionthey seem to take on a life of their own and become more frequent …
I was on a roll earlier this year writing “thank you” notes. Amazing things came out of that! … lots of return notes (thank yous, funny and sweet), an autographed copy of “Why Good Things Happen to Good People,” a major discount on a car repair job and tons of feel-good energy.
Best of all I found that writing notes cheered me up. Doing good onto others just seems to do the best on to me too.

I have suffered from extreme fatigue for two years. I get a little better then I quit protocol, seems like I’m still pushing myself. Doing anything for me is hard because I grew up with the belief it was selfish. I have a lot of anxiety and spend my nights fighting with insomnia. I know emotional health is part of healing. I tried therapy only to have it knock me down again. Bringing up those old feelings caused me to crash and burn and left me feeling depressed. How do I start again?

I was searching the web trying to find some way to help my daughter and found your website. She has all of the symptoms of adrenal fatigue. She is 21 and has always been very skinny and energetic. She has gained 40 pounds in the last two years and has terrible acne along with all of the other symptoms you listed. I understand the emotional aspects, but I am wondering if you are taking anything for adrenal fatigue and if so, is it helping? I am desperate to help my daughter. She just moved to LA to persue a career in acting and this has the odds stacked against her. The worst it gets the more stressed she becomes. I would love to hear back from you. When I was about her age and going full throttle I use to regularly wear myself out and into bronchitis. A very wise doctor I had at that time would say to me "you can keep going and go into pneumonia and break your health and take a very long time to recover or, you can go to bed for a few days and get some rest." That blunt style worked for me and I'd head to bed.
Left untreated, adrenal fatigue can go into adrenal failure in which you break your health. Unlike adrenal fatigue, adrenal failure can take years to recover. So, perhaps you could mention that you'd spoken with an expert who said she could either make a few changes NOW or take a few years off to recover. Blunt worked best with me then and now.
I am not a doctor and always recommend visiting a physician to determine if there are underlying causes. That being said, if your daughter decides to make changes I would recommend she do the following immediately:

• Engage in a news/internet/e-mail fast two to three days per week. Chances are your daughter needs to take cell phone and text messages to stay up with work opportunities. Anything else needs to be turned off a couple days every week because they over stimulate our adrenal glands.
• Get ready for tomorrow, tonight. Besides breakfast this is the best way to de-stress the morning and so, the rest of the day. Lay out the clothes you plan to wear down to the skivvies. Pack the lunch and any other materials needed for the day. People suffering from adrenal fatigue feel easily overwhelmed. Simplifying life and making days flow with ease are essential step to recovery.
Finally, how about some mother/daughter/best friend time? Could you take a week to fly out and just-have-fun with her? L.A. is a huge, fantastic, throbbing city. I bet she's feeling a bit lost and overwhelmed. My mother came to visit me for a couple weeks when I moved to Virginia. I was feeling a bit lost and lonely. She helped me break in the town and gave me a big dose of love and fun.

Natural way to boost energy and recover from fatigue or any dis-ease.
My journey to understand and recover from fatigue has paused, lingered and returned to the Blood Type Diet. The first visit was for me. Michael was suffering from terrible migraines and while researching for him I found something that works great for us. No good deed goes unrewarded …
Michael and I are opposites. I am a Blood Type A which Dr. D'Adamo refers to as "The Cultivator." Another word is vegetarian. Michael is a Type "O" a.k.a. "The Hunter" a.k.a. carnivorous! My first "date" meals for him were unconsciously vegi- oriented. Put me in a kitchen and I'm reaching for a chopping knife and a big vegetable! He ate a couple of these meals with exclamations of "delicious!" Around the time of the third repast he was at my elbow with a side of meat. One of our first jokes was "and here's the beef!"
Making a long story short --- the more I work with the principles of The Blood Type diet the better we feel. When I was diagnosed with Stage 1 breast cancer last year I scurried about to add new tools to my self-help toolbox. Yes I needed more energy. The radiation treatment was exhausting. But I was also looking for somethingS to change my insides – mental, emotional, spiritual and chemical.

Most health insurance plans include a FREE annual physical. Most of us walk into this appointment with less preparation than we'd put into a Baskin & Robbins outing! Is this because it is free? Partly. The big reason is a characteristic typically expressed by chronically fatigued women and men.
We (cough, couch) tend to not take care of ourselves or take notice of our "selves." We take great care of our significant others. We are attentive to work and community obligations BUT when it comes to self-care … we flat line.

- Nails are brittle, breaking easily. Do I have a Vitamin B deficiency? Will request a test. Have been borderline anemic over the past years. Will also request to have that re-tested.
