Life Keeps Getting Better with Terry Hernon MacDonald

There is a feeling that comes along with fatigue. Well, there are quite a few actually.

One of my least favorite was hopelessness. That feeling that no matter what you do or don't do you will never really feel like your old self. The self that was tireless, funny, enthusiastic and high on life. Remember that super woman energetic you?

My friend Terry taps out a daily blog that never fails to lift my spirits and, where the spirits go the body is soon to follow.

Here is a post from Terry Hernon MacDonald, founder of Happy Girl Musing. It is titled "Life Keeps Getting Better." Enjoy.

We've all heard the garbage about a woman over age 35 meeting a decent man being about as likely as her dying in a plane crash. Yesterday, I met yet another woman who defied that nonsense.

She's 53, positive-minded, active, and an enthusiastic newlywed, but she could have been a real sad sack. She had plenty of cause to feel sorry for herself. In April 2007 (11 months ago), she was hit by a car and told she would ever walk again.

Doctors said they'd have to amputate her right foot. She refused to believe them.

Call it faith in God, call it the Law of Attraction, call it whatever you want: She determined that a power mightier than modern medicine created her and would heal her foot. She would walk again.

Do I need to tell you that she did not lose her foot? That she was walking fluidly-- without a limp -- 11 months later? Now, I can't say what her foot looks like under the sleek high-heeled boot she wore; she did say it's been fortified with pins.

But whatever it looks like, it's not stopping her. As I said, she's newly married and clearly enjoying life. I wish I'd had the chance to ask her about her new husband, especially how she met him.

My guess is she did it the same way she healed her foot. She surely wouldn't be the first person who succeeded in meeting the man of her dreams this way.

To learn more about Terry why don't you tune into my interview with her on the "Secrets of Attraction." You are gonna love to hear what she has to say ...

Women's Health - Take the Tired Woman Quiz

Are you a tired woman? This may sound like a strange question but so many of the women we serve didn't know they were tired!

For one thing, fatigued women tend to be Super Women over achievers! They are sooooo busy helping everyone else they lose track of their feelings - physically, emotionally and spiritually. Asking an exhausted woman how she "feels" is about as constructive as asking her about her hobbies or what she does for fun or which girlfriend she hooked up with last week. These are dead-end questions because fatigue is chip, chip, chipping away at her youth, joy, enthusiasm, simple pleasures, free time, dreams, friendships, marriage ...

Women who are tired don’t tend to have hobbies or time for bubble baths or coffee dates with girlfriends. Instead of enthusiasm they often feel overwhelmed, resentful and angry.

STOP this vicious cycle. STOP your denial. You are the only one who can help yourself AND you are here on this page because you know something’s gotta change.

Click here and please proceed directly to the Tired Woman Quiz. http://www.FatigueBeGone.com/tired_woman_quiz.

PSST. First put the oxygen mask on yourself, then you can help all the people you want. Tired women tend to do this backwards, right? Been there – done that and that's how I became an expert on this Women's Health Topic!

A New Year's Resolution to re-Energize ALL of you!

This is just in from my friend Jennifer Clare and I had to share it with you! (Psst. If you have something cool to get us started in this new year add it here!)

"Forget the resolutions. Forget control and discipline...too much work. Instead try experimenting. Go in search of something to fall in love with...something about yourself,
your career, your spouse."-- Dale Dauten

How refreshing! This time of year the papers and magazines are full of suggestions to detox, purge and diet - essentially beating yourself up for having been indulgent over the holidays.

Rather than buying into that punishing idea, try really falling in love. With you.

Go through your body and thank each and every part of it for being there for you, 24/7. Your body never stops working for you, carrying you around, allowing you to experience exquisite pleasures.

Your body is home.

So instead of being mean to it, decide to be kind and gentle. Feed it nourishing whole foods. Move and stretch it. Breathe lots of oxygen deep into it. And hydrate it! (I read yesterday that our goal with drinking water is to replace all the stale water in the body with clean fresh stuff - every day. Are you living in a spring-fed lake or a polluted, algae-filled pond?)

(And if you're interested in learning to talk to your body and finding out exactly what IT wants - there are a handful of places left for the course on January 19th. Your Body KNOWS What It Needs!

Read more here.) You are marvellous and perfect. Treat yourself that way! thought matters! and so do you! Jennifer Clare http://www.thoughtmatters.com.au

Adrenal Fatigue and Cortisol Deficiency

According to Dr. Lee, author, What Your Doctor May Not Tell You, the below symptoms may indicate a "cortisol deficiency" caused by tired adrenals.

What tires out our adrenals? The simple everyday mix of juggling a job and juggling a family PLUS a drip of chronic stress -- extended family expectations, financial downsize (or upsize), an illness, a major life change ... (Psst. Any change is stressful, even from worse to better.)

Here are the symptoms of Cortisol Deficiency per Dr. Lee.

Debilitating Fatigue * Unstable blood sugar * Foggy Thinking * Low blood pressure * Thin and/or dry skin * Intolerance to exercise * Brown spots on face

Recognize any of these? Personally I wasn't aware of unstable blood sugar (what test is that?) or my low blood pressure (which I was assured was "fine." See below.) But the rest was me - oh yeah - right down to two large brown spots on my face.

Rule of thumb. Actually, a few.

1. Watch out when Drs. assure you that something is "fine" or "normal" after they remark or call attention to it as in "Boy, you have low blood pressure, has it always been this way?" Then you say something like "I don't know. Is this a problem?" and they say "Of course not, this is normal in lots of people including world-class athletes." (This is an actual conversation that I had with a doctor. BTW, I was not a world-class athlete. I was just a woman who was tired all the time!)

2. Check out Dr. Lee's books: Dr. John Lee's Hormone Balance Made Simple: The Essential How-to Guide to Symptoms, Dosage, Timing, and More and What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About(TM): Premenopause, Balance Your Hormones and Your Life from Thirty to Fifty

3. Cortisol, what is it? It is a steroid hormone manufactured in the adrenal glands. It puts the ump into our fight or flight which is why it is referred to as "the stress hormone."

4. Stress, who needs it. If you feel stressed all the time and your life really isn't "on the line" PLEASE find a way to soothe your spirit and give your hormones a break. One of my somethings is the practice of Reiki. Learn more about it with this easy-to-follow book called "Portable Reiki." In minutes a day you will feel the difference and, like it implies, you can take it and do it anywhere.

A Stay At Home Mom’s Day Off Starts Today

Time saving, sanity saving, energy raising tips for Stay-At-Home Moms

No matter what is going on or how busy you may be there is still one thing you have to do everyday. Several times a day. You Eat. When you're a mom you feed others too. When you are a stay at home mom that means, Breakfast, lunch, dinner. Breakfast, lunch, dinner. Breakfast, lunch, arggggggg!

Mom, do you want a day off. This week? You can have it every week with these time saving, stay at home mom saving tips.

Save Time, Double Up And, get a mom's day off from cooking. One way is to "double up." Specifically, double up every dinner recipe you make this month. Gonna cook for four? Cook for eight instead. One meal goes on the table, the other goes in the fridge.

Another way is to "add extra." Your recipe calls for a cup of rice and a pound of spinach? Make it a cup and half and a pound and a half. What you don't eat for dinner turns into a microwave lunch. Still a little "left over"? Freeze it!

Your goal mom - should you decide to take it on - is to cook double enough and extra enough so that you don't have to cook at all for at least one day a week! We'll call that day, Mom's Day Off!

Save Sanity. Swap with another Stay At Home Mom - And, take half a day off from your kids. So many women left mom, grandma and their sisters behind, in another state, when they married the love of their lives. That's fine and dandy, but they are paying the -- click here to read on --

Nine Tips to Help Moms Overcome Fatigue and Insomnia

9 Moms helping moms sleep tight – TONIGHT!

It's cruel how fatigue AND insomnia oftentimes go hand-in-hand; especially for women. This is particularly true for moms who have endless "To Do" lists and are constantly on the go. With so much to do and think about, it's no wonder so many women feel tired and wired all the live-long day (and night).

As a woman who was suffering with both fatigue and insomnia, I was desperate to find answers. Personally, I didn't want to turn to prescription medications, although it was quite tempting. In a quest to find answers I scoured the Internet and talked with professionals, friends and sleep deprived moms. Through this research I discovered a common theme.

Today, I share nine tried-and-true Sleep and Sanity Saving Tips which can help you close your weary eyes and get some much needed rest.

Tip #1. Buddy up and get the support you need. Many new mothers lie awake at night worrying about whether ... Click here fto read the rest of the article

Stressed-Out American Women Have No Time for Sleep

You gotta read this ... all of this. Here is just one interesting tidbit. - Viveca

Lack of Sleep Disrupts Quality of Life

The Sleep in America poll also finds that a lack of a good night’s sleep is interfering with a woman’s quality of life. Women report that they often choose to put healthy activities last on their priority list as they struggle through their daily lives. When pressed for time, one-half of the women polled responded that sleep (52%) and exercise (48%) are the first things they sacrifice. Additionally, more than one-third of women say they also reduce the amount of time they spend with friends and family (39%), stop eating healthy (37%) and don’t participate in sexual activity with their partner (33%) when they run out of time or are too sleepy in a day. Interestingly, work is the last thing that women say they sacrifice when pressed for time; only 20% of women responded that they would opt to put work on the back burner when they run out of time or are too sleepy.

Super Women Push - Real Women Pray

When the Super Woman bug bites, my knee jerk reaction is to try harder, push harder, run faster, do more, try this, manipulate that ... Used to think it was because I was so smart that I had so many ways to overcome!

Now I recognize that kind of urgency and all those options as fear powered by monkey mind.

Instead of doing more I take that heart pounding as a sign I need to pray more. And, today is shaping up to be one of those days ...

Here are a couple of my favorite prayers:

Relax, let go, Let God.

Tasbim Sunset/Sunrise Chant shared by Dana Ludeking

May the Love and the Light and the Healing Energies Please Come to me.
May the Love and the Light and the Healing Energies Please Come surround me.
May the Love and the Light and the Healing Energies Please Flow Through Me.
May the Love and the Light and the Healing Energies Heal all those around me.

Super Women - Speed vs. Spirit

When I am in Super Woman mode I depend on speed and illusions. I imagine because I am on the lam, without a quiet moment to connect with spirit, that I am actually accomplishing something great.

Denial is not a river in Egypt as my bro likes to tell me. Items checked off of long "To Do" lists do not make a super life - they make a super exhausting life. Been there - done that.

When I am in Real Woman mode, I rely on spirit and act on intuitive hunches & the revelations that come to me in the seconds I hang between sleep & awakening. When I am in Real Woman mode I accomplish MORE in LESS time and it is "what matters most" vs. "whatever." No one puts it better than David Essel, Author, Slow Down - The Fastest Way to Get Everything You Want. Click here to meet David and tune into our interview.

Cell Phone Karma: Real Women recovery secrets begin

Super Women are always on the go-go-go and always plugged into widgets. They think they're in control but really they are constantly on the beck & call of others. The more widgets -the more calls and less peace, confidence and grace.

Real Women Recovery Secret #1
If it beeps, burps, vibrates, rings, sings or interrupts ... turn it off. Only turn it on when 1) it is safe to communicate and 2) necessary to communicate and 3) get clear about what "necessary" means.

Real Women can sit through meals, birthdays, weddings and funerals with IT turned OFF. On the other hand a Super Woman friend of mine spent my entire wedding reception sending & receiving messages on her Blackberry! Come on!

Don't turn them on when you are with friends, shopping in grocery stores, waiting in lines in public places or else you might have your own close encounter with ... Cell Phone Karma.

Super Women Sag - Do we?

Why Super Women Sag.

O.k., I'll speak for myself. I used to (and sometimes still) sag because one more thing on top of one more thing on top of one more thing used to smooch the life out of me.

I remember one time my father said "Darlin' no matter what I do to help you it doesn't make any difference. You just add on more ..." Dad is a man of few words who never complains. I took that to heart but couldn't figure out what to do differently. Over doing was all I knew how to do. The only way I could stop myself was by getting really, really sick.

Tomorrow, let's put our capes away and share some down to earth Real Woman Recovery Secrets. Thanks for visiting and feel free to post any secrets of your own ...

Super Woman - who are we?

Super Women Suck at enjoying life.

Remember science class where we had to make assumptions then prove them right, or wrong?

Here’s my case.

#1. 80% of American Women will suffer from adrenal fatigue. And what causes Adrenal Fatigue? Stress, shocks to our systems and sucking it up to prove we’re tough. (I even had a doctor tell me to “tough it out.” The Doc was, of course, a … she.)

Super Women marry, manage households, work full-time jobs, have kids, add kid’s stuff like affection, attention and commuting … We cook, clean, and garden … We do all the Martha Stewart stuff without the staff.

Sometimes we sensibly cut back to part-time hours, a measly 40 some hours per week vs. the 50 plus. Wuu Huu! Now that's a relief.

We have sex FAST, sleep less and push our husbands to do more so that we can add more onto our Super Women “To Do” Lists.

Results? Our kids our tired, our husbands are tired and we are sick & tired - guilt ridden and cranky - especially with our super families.

Now what part of that sounds enjoyable?

Your super dooper comments are welcome. Tomorrow, Day 2, Why Super Women Sag.
