Extremely Fatigued for Years. How Can I Stop Feeling So Tired all the Time?

Dear Viveca,

I have suffered from extreme fatigue for two years. I get a little better then I quit protocol, seems like I’m still pushing myself. Doing anything for me is hard because I grew up with the belief it was selfish. I have a lot of anxiety and spend my nights fighting with insomnia. I know emotional health is part of healing. I tried therapy only to have it knock me down again. Bringing up those old feelings caused me to crash and burn and left me feeling depressed. How do I start again?

***

Dear Extremely Fatigued,

I recently corresponded with a mother who was seeking help for her 21-year old daughter. These days are particularly stressful and exhausting for everyone - no matter the age. You say that you’ve been fatigued for two years. Could this be connected to the economy, politics, news?

I have two bottom line suggestions. Both are relatively inexpensive and offer immediate results. If this sounds self-serving on my part - just do it anyway!

1. Bazi. To make a long-story short my fatigue came back big time last year when I went through radiation treatment for Stage 1 breast cancer. Stage 1 is the next best thing to Stage None so don’t be worried for me. Anyway my brother sent me a case of Bazi; a liquid dietary supplement. I showed it to my doc who O.K’d it and to my Nutritionist who approved it. Bazi got me through radiation in style. It even cleared up some joint and arthritis issues. I’m done with radiation, but I continue to use it to cover my daily supplement requirements & for its energy boost properties.

I like Bazi so much I became a product Ambassador. I recommend starting with an order for a “two-pack.” You’ll want to drink three to four ounces per day for a week or two, then drop it to two to three ounces a day. My website is: http://www.drinkbazi.biz/viveca

2. Fatigue Be Gone Guide. Did you go through the guide two years ago and now you are feeling tired again OR have you never used it? If you have then I recommend that you repeat the 8-step process. I do every year before my physical.

If you are tired of feeling tired, purchase the Fatigue Be Gone Jumpstart eGuide for $9.99. Upon receipt of payment, you can download the book and instantly begin your wellness journey. The fatigue guide is backed by a 30 day money-back-guarantee, so you have nothing to lose and energy to gain!

Where the Bazi nutrition supplement can give you an immediate, all-day, energy boost and reduce stress, the Fatigue Be Gone guide can help detect and eliminate energy drains. (physical, emotional, spiritual) You need to know, notice and note: If you are suffering from fatigue something isn’t working. Something(s) need to be eliminated, shifted or added. You need this bottom-line information:

• What time of the day do you feel most tired?
• What is your typical diet? Are you suffering from vitamin or mineral deficiencies?
• Are you dehydrated, suffering from food allergies, toxic relationships or simply being too much of a yes-man?
• What is behind your anxiety? The Fatigue Be Gone guide gives you simple techniques you can use anywhere, anytime to relax and move forward in a positive energy-boosting direction.
• Are you sleeping enough and sleeping at the best times to recharge your adrenal “get up and go” glands?

3. Final suggestions: Fun, Frivolity and Volunteerism

What are you doing for fun and what is your community service project? Fun and service were not a part of my routine during the worst of times. Adding them back in gave me huge dividends. The fun came in my Friday Night Salsa Class — happy music, new friends and something to look forward to at the end of the week (TGIF, like when we were kids, right?)

Service work - I volunteer three hours a week at my neighborhood “no kill” shelter. This work has given me much satisfaction and new friends - two and four footed.

I hope this fatigue-busting information is of your use to you. Please stay in touch and share your increased energy success story with us!

Day 4. Sleep in tomorrow.

4. Sleep In.

If you suffer from adrenal fatigue you need more quality sleep! Sounds obvious but adrenal fatigue has a way of starting our days slowly and drearily then amping up our energy in the evening so that we toss and turn instead of sleeping. Sound familiar?

My simple strategy is to be in bed by 9:00 p.m. with a good book. This in not a thriller that revs you up but something like the autobiography I'm reading about the life of Martha Washington. If you fall asleep and wake up again don't fight it - don't toss & turn, just move. Get up and take your book to another comfy location in the house and read some more until your drift off. (I'd also recommend a small bowl of cereal and milk ... works for me.)

For more insomnia busting tips, click here. If you have tips, please add them here!

Oh and tomorrow, Saturday, sleep in as long as you can and/or at least until 9:00 a.m. Our adrenal glands are doing important recharging after 11:00 p.m. and up until 9:00 a.m. so take advantage of this natural healing opportunity. If need be - get help from your significant others to help you hit this goal.

Cheers!

Viveca

Bye the way --- It is estimated that 80% of American women will suffer from adrenal fatigue at some point in their life. They also recover. I can attest to that.

Misery Poker and the energy--boosting power of the whine. Is there?

I suppose there is a health benefit to whining and complaining, in moderation. Isn't that funny? It needs to be moderated just like eating, drinking, exercising, thinking ...

Today I set out to determine what occurs physically when we complain. I wondered what hormones are triggered and what effect that has on our adrenals. Didn't come up with anything that specific but I know how dis-eased and fatigued I feel when I am focused on the faults instead of the pearls. Don't you?

This topic is inspired by a new column in the Wall Street Journal called "Bonds." Today's topic was Misery Poker: It's One Game Worth Losing. Big thanks go out to its author, Elizabeth Bernstein for bringing this bad habit to my attention. Once there is awareness, action - change is possible.
My husband will be thrilled.

By the by I did come across some good quotes on the topic!

I personally believe we developed language because of our deep inner need to complain.
~Jane Wagner

In trying to get our own way, we should remember that kisses are sweeter than whine. ~Author Unknown

People that pay for things never complain. It's the guy you give something to that you can't please. ~Will Rogers

What will you do today? (instead of worry)

"Do you remember the things you were worrying about a year ago? How did they work out? Didn't you waste a lot of fruitless energy on account of most of them? Didn't most of them turn out all right after all?" - Dale Carnegie

Worry is exhausting. It is that rocking chair that goes back & forth and back & forth and straight to our adrenal glands. Worry is exhausting and sickening, literally.

Today do something to eliminate a worry and bring on a smiley.

Yes, get rid of nagging doubt, undone or resentment. Forgive someone. Help out your shelter and adopt a dog or cat. Call that friend you’ve been avoiding and treat her to a cup of coffee and a spoonful of compassion, optimism and good-humor. Apologize to your mother, start writing a love-note to your father to give to him on Father's Day, mail the gift to your niece even though her birthday was in April! Admit you messed up and ask how you can make it up.

What will you do today to make you feel good about yourself? Tell me. Then tell me how good you feel!

Viveca

Fatigue & Dehydration is easy to spot - just look at your pee!

I'm hungry, tired and just peed bright yellow.

What does that mean?

Dehydration. All of them are symptoms of dehydration.

So, the next time you are hungry - drink a glass of water, wait 20 minutes and then eat something - if you are still hungry.

And, the next time you are tired - drink a big glass of water, wait 20 minutes and then - if you are still tired, take a 15 minute nap. Close the door, hang a "Do Not Disturb" Sign and put your head on the desk. (Think grammar school "rest periods!") If they won't leave you alone, go sit in your car or hide in a friend's office!

Finally, the next time you pee bright yellow instead of clear or very light yellow, know that you are dehydrated and drink a big glass of water. Maybe drink two. Coffee, which I love, dehydrates. I think I'm seeing the results of my cup a day treat. That's o.k. I just need to compensate.

Now ... going to go take that 15 minute nap. Then I am going to eat something delicious. Self-care. I love it!

Cheers!

Poll Results --- When Are You Most Tired?

TGIF! Now, about those "When Are You Most Tired Poll" results I keep forgetting to post ... Thanks Kim for bringing that to my attention. Sorry.

First of all, pretend you are a scientist. Use this information as part of your process of elimination not instead of consulting your doctor. Your sleuthing + Your Doc's Expertise is vital to helping you get your groove back!

Now, roll-of-drums, here are the results of our poll

****************

If you are most tired between 7 a.m. - 10 a.m. Could be Allergies.

Run a food journal for at least a week. Notice & note how you feel after you eat. For example, I tend to fall asleep within 20 minutes of a bowl of ice cream. My eyes start to water within ten minutes of eating a GIANT Chocolate Donut from my local superstore. My girlfriend Kelley watched this happen and told me to never eat another one of those donuts!

****************

If you are most tired between 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. Could be Borderline Anemia

Run a food journal for at least a week while naturally increasing your iron absorption. How?

Heat and eat acidic foods like tomatoes, apples & lemons, in a cast iron skillet to boost the amount of iron you absorb. Combine iron rich foods with high acid foods to boost your iron absorption. Examples: beans and tomato sauce or cereal and strawberries.

You can also add an iron pill with a chaser of lemon juice or water. Do not take an iron pill without the chaser as it is hard on the liver.

If you notice an improvement you are on the right path. Keep it up!

******************

If you are most tired between 3 p.m. - 5 p.m. Could be Adrenal Fatigue

Run a sleep journal for at least a week. Go to sleep before 10 p.m. and stay in bed until 9 a.m. whenever possible. Turn off the TV, Computer & Cell Phones by 8 p.m. If shutting down and sleeping this is difficult to do you could be among the 80% of American Women who suffer from Adrenal Fatigue at some point in their lives. Click here for more information on what to do ...

**************************

If you are most tired between 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. Could be Toxin Overload

Eliminate worn out plastic containers - if they are scratched or blistered, they are worn! Rinse produce well. (I soak mine in water plus a splash of bleach for ten minutes, rinse and soak is fresh water for ten minutes.) Clean out under your bathroom sinks and kitchen sink with a mixture of bleach & water.

Again, notice and note how you feel ...

**************************

If you are most tired All-Day-Long

Could be Functional Hypothyroidism, Wilson's Syndrome, Candidiasis, Dehydration, Anxiety, Migraine or Depression.

My own experience with fatigue is that a number of hidden fatigues will gang up. I had adrenal fatigue Plus borderline anemia Plus Candidiasis Plus anxiety Plus dehydration ... the food journal and sleep journal was critical tools to help me identify and peal them back one at a time.

It takes time to wear ourselves down (years) and it is pretty amazing how our bodies can turn that around in weeks or months if we get ourselves on the right path and chip away .... May I suggest that you treat yourself to a copy of the Fatigue Be Gone Jumpstart e-Guide?

*****************************

Poll Results of the Fatigue Be Gone Community:

Our #1 Fatigue was in the 3-5 p.m. time --- Adrenal Fatigue
Our #2 Fatigue was in the All-Day-Long --- See list above
Our #3 Fatigue was in the 7-10 a.m. --- Allergies
Our #4 Fatigue was in the 11 - 2 p.m. --- Borderline Anemia

Fatigue & Fear -- Yikes. How to breakthrough and live fearlessly

Nothing exhausts our resources -- financial, professional, emotional and physical like fear. In fact, the fastest way to fail is to simply stay in that paralyzing fight or flight space and wait for the other shoe to drop ...

One of my favorite mentors, Henry Ford, once said:
Whether you think you can or think you can't, you're right.

Today, make a break from your past or present and decide to live fearlessly. Another favorite mentor, Guy Finley, can show you just how to do that in his new breakthrough book, The Essential Laws of Fearless Living.

Women's Health - Take the Tired Woman Quiz

Are you a tired woman? This may sound like a strange question but so many of the women we serve didn't know they were tired!

For one thing, fatigued women tend to be Super Women over achievers! They are sooooo busy helping everyone else they lose track of their feelings - physically, emotionally and spiritually. Asking an exhausted woman how she "feels" is about as constructive as asking her about her hobbies or what she does for fun or which girlfriend she hooked up with last week. These are dead-end questions because fatigue is chip, chip, chipping away at her youth, joy, enthusiasm, simple pleasures, free time, dreams, friendships, marriage ...

Women who are tired don’t tend to have hobbies or time for bubble baths or coffee dates with girlfriends. Instead of enthusiasm they often feel overwhelmed, resentful and angry.

STOP this vicious cycle. STOP your denial. You are the only one who can help yourself AND you are here on this page because you know something’s gotta change.

Click here and please proceed directly to the Tired Woman Quiz. http://www.FatigueBeGone.com/tired_woman_quiz.

PSST. First put the oxygen mask on yourself, then you can help all the people you want. Tired women tend to do this backwards, right? Been there – done that and that's how I became an expert on this Women's Health Topic!

Adrenal Fatigue - Question from a reader

After years of being on prednisone, I've been diagnosed with adrenal fatigue - believe me I have all the symptoms. I'm in the process of reading Dr. Wilson's book which seems wonderful so far; except for all the foods he states you have to totally give up. Luckily, I'm working with a doctor that addresses adrenal fatigue, he has given me 5 different vitamin supplements to take - I've been on them for 3 weeks now and see no help. My main concerns are muscle loss and crashing at about 6:00pm, then up restless with crazy thoughts all night long. I'm changing my diet as best I could, based on Dr. Wilson's book. One question is if you know anything about vinegar or licorice root as a support or hindrance to this condition (I've googled pros and cons). Another question is has to do with what supplements have helped "real" people and which have shown no help. I thank you for your time and look forward to your response.
-Nan

------------------------

Dear Nan,

First of all ... Congratulations! You're aware that you have a problem and you are taking action! You are one of the lucky ones. Too many women stay stuck in denial or avoidance, focused on caring for every other body, but not their own.

Next, thank you for your note. Whew! There is a lot here! I will do my best to share some “lay woman” experience with you.

First of all, Dr. Wilson’s book is excellent. It was one of the many self-help and self-health books I poured through during my own recovery. I can’t remember all the things he says to give up … Recovery is a process where you change a little here and integrate a little there and suddenly one day you notice how much better you are caring for yourself and how fabulous you feel. Wuuu Huuu!

You’ve been on “5 different vitamin supplements - I've been on them for 3 weeks now and see no help.” It has taken you years to get this run down. It can easily take more than 3 weeks to notice a difference. And, supplements alone won't do it.

Besides the supplements --- what lifestyle changes have you made? Are you getting more rest and sleeping into 9 a.m. whenever possible? Have you upped your water intake? Are you eating an awesome breakfast before 10:00 a.m. and are you in bed resting by 10 p.m. so that you are zzzzzzing when your adrenals need to be re-charging? Are you taking an easier, more peaceful approach to life? (Dr. Wilson talks about the personality types that “catch” adrenal fatigue.) Is your recovery your #1 priority? Right now, it needs to be.

I wonder if you have determined the emotional trigger for your fatigue? Do you have help coming to peace with your past? (Adrenal Fatigue is often launched by a major event like the death of a loved one, moving to a new state, having a baby, divorce, broken-heart, bankruptcy …)

Finally, there is A LOT to this. I made it as simple and step-by-step as possible when I pulled together the Fatigue Be Gone Jumpstart e-Guide.

Fatigue is a dis-ease of the mind, body and spirit. All have to be nourished back to health. This may sound overwhelming, especially to someone who is tired, but trust me – I’ve been and done that. Because I know just how you feel I did my best to make it as easy as possible for you to feel better – FAST. Click here for more …

Tired, and it's only Tuesday?

When was the last time you thought about or were tested for Adrenal Fatigue or Allergies or Borderline Anemia or Candida or Dehydration or Eye Strain or …

Most fatigues don’t show up on our annual physical results. And, we’re too busy in our heads to notice how are bodies feel. We say we're "O.k." or "Fine" or "Getting Along." We discount our fatigue and blame it on the holidays "everyone is tired", or staying up too late or getting up too early ... It's the worry about the wedding, the move, the new job, the newborn, his parents, , my parents, the boss, PMS …

My personal favorite … "being tired is just a natural part of getting older."

What are your favorite excuses for feeling tired today?

I used all the above plus some! Never thought I was tired - just thought that's how life went. Finally it got baaaaaaaad. You can read my story, click here.

I hit bottom and had to stop & figure out what was going on. Was it physical, emotional, spiritual?

It took me a year and half to get my groove back. Now my mission is to help other women get to their “bottom line” & re-Energize - fast. Here’s a starting point for your journey. The A, B, C, D, E, G, HHidden Fatigue” Suspects …

The "Gift" of Fatigue

The gift of fatigue ... where do I begin?

Fatigue slowed me down long enough to fall in love and marry Michael. (The old me was always on the go and alone. Who has time for Love?)

Fatigue made me choose to do "what matters most" vs. "whatever" was on my plate. (The old me was a work-a-holic who couldn't prioritize.)

Fatigue offered no easy recovery solution. It made me search far and wide - grow. I discovered a new, fascinating and fun world that involves all my senses AND my heart, mind and spirit. (Highlights: I've been certified in Reiki, studied Reflexology, built an intimate relationship with God, become nutrition savvy and made many fabulous friends. Now I am learning all about Chakras, aromatherapy and the power of prayer and patience. Fascinating stuff.)

Fatigue armed me with information and been-there-done-that compassion. (I used to be so hard on myself and everyone else. My goal was productivity. Now my goal is love, connection, contribution and en-JOYment.)

Fatigue hung on long enough to make me form healthy habits that now help me stay balanced, grounded, peaceful, confident and happy.
I Love my new life and I am grateful to fatigue for making this possible.

So ... what gifts have you gained, or are you creating, from fatigue? Do share ...

And ... if you want to start clearing out your fatigue and get to your "Why me?" and "Now What?" faster, purchase the Fatigue Be Gone Jumpstart Guide. It is only $9.95 - I've kept the price low so anyone can afford it.
You know what else? It is an internet download product so it is available to you within seconds of payment. Your new life could start NOW.
