Is eye-strain causing your fatigue (and headaches)?

This morning I read that "increasing the font size on your computer screen can help prevent eye strain and headaches." You don't say.

I spend hours everyday staring at this screen. Often I strain to read text that is too small or in a color that fades back ... way back. So, I was excited to find this easy tip to increase the font size in my browser. Here it is:

PC Users: Simultaneously press

CTRL Key + SHIFT Key + Plus (+) Key
Minus (-) Key to decrease size

MAC Users: Simultaneously press

Weeweechu

Here's a little something to perk up those adrenal glands!

It's a romantic full moon, when Pedro said, "Hey, mamacita, let's do Weeweechu."

Oh no, not now, let's look at the moon!" said Rosita.

Oh, c'mon baby, let's you and I do Weeweechu. I love you and it's the perfect time," Pedro begged.

"But I wanna just hold your hand and watch the moon." replied Rosita.

Please, corazoncito, just once, do Weeweechu with me."

Rosita looked at Pedro and said, "OK, one time, we'll do Weeweechu."

Pedro grabbed his guitar and they both sang............

"Weeweechu a Merry Christmas, Weeweechu a Merry Christmas, Weeweechu a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year........

Happiness is Contagious

Happiness Is Contagious
Social Networks Affect Mood, Study Shows

Dec. 4, 2008 -- Could happiness be contagious?

New research from Harvard Medical School and the University of California, San Diego suggests that happiness is influenced not only by the people you know, but by the people they know.
The study showed that happiness spreads through social networks, sort of like a virus, meaning that your happiness could influence the happiness of someone you've never even met.
Sadness spreads too, but much less efficiently, says study co-author James H. Fowler, PhD, of the University of California-San Diego.
"We have known for a long time that there is a direct relationship between one person's happiness and another's," Fowler tells WebMD."But this study shows that indirect relationships also affect happiness. We found a statistical relationship not just between your happiness and your friends' happiness, click here for the rest of this fascinating article!

Fatigue Be Gone Food for thought. Right now pick up the phone and call a friend who makes you feel happy. Notice how that feels in your body ... don't you feel more energized when you are speaking with him/her? How long does that good vibration last? Next notice how your energy level feels around someone who doesn't make you feel happy.

Journal on this ... what did you uncover and discover about yourself. How can you use this information to have a more enjoyable day-to-day life, feel more energized and have more fun this Christmas season?

Fatigue Cause Alert – MSG – Do you feel tired, depressed and achy?

The MSG fatigue culprit recently came under my radar. My dude has been suffering from migraine headaches (3-5 week.) I used to have a couple a year until my forties ... Since then I've gone up to 4 to 5 a month - not fun.

Long story short – research led me to a list of things to eliminate from our diet and lifestyle. Tippy top of that list is MSG.

Results? We are having fewer migraines, they are less severe and don’t last as long. We also really notice when it slips back into our diet via a store bought “goodie” or a reckless restaurant escapade.

My first warning sign is fatigue and feeling achy and depressed -– then comes the headache. Michael’s warning is the migraine followed by the aches, low energy and blahs. Here is bottom line info to help you check out of Club MSG.

MSG a.k.a. Monosodium Glutamate is a “flavor enhancer.” It is also called an “excitotoxin” or neurotoxin by neurologists and is believed to have degenerative and deadly effects on the brain and nervous system.

Common side effects of MSG include: Fatigue, achy muscles and joints and headaches, migraines, depression, anxiety and obesity.

Fatigue Be Gone’s Easy 1-2-3 to MSG Elimination:

1. Be Ruthless. Go through your spice cabinet, food pantry and freezer and throw away anything that lists MSG or its pals which include:

Autolyzed “anything”
Bouillon/Broth/Stock
Carrageenan
Caseinate (sodium or calcium)
Citric acid
Commercial soup or sauce base
Corn byproducts: corn syrup,
Cornstarch,
Dextrose
Gelatin
Hydrolyzed “anything”
Malted barley flour
Malt extract
Monosodium glutamate
Natural flavor/flavorings
Seasonings, Spice (check ingredients for anything on this list.)
Soy, wheat, whey protein
Soy, fish, or bean sauces
Yeast extract or nutrient
And NutraSweet.

2. Shop Smart. Carry the above list with you when you go grocery shopping. Hint: Stick to the outside perimeter of the supermarket. The inner isles offer MSG and other chemical laden foods i.e. most canned soups and boxed foods, lunch foods, condiments, TV dinners and sodas. And, beware of foods sold as “heart smart” and “weight loss.” When fat and sugar are removed something needs to take those spots …

3. Dine Out Smart. Before you make that reservation call the restaurant and ask if their food is MSG Free.

Is your fatigue caused by MSG? Use the above information to completely eliminate it from your diet then notice and note how you feel over the next couple weeks . The old fashioned way of trial and error works well and is cheap to implement. You just need a memo book, a pen and a blush of resolve.

Psst. If you’re lacking resolve just remember that you are sick & tired of feeling tired AND willing to do whatever it takes to get your groove back!

Watch Your Thinking with the help of Catherine Ponder

Reminded today by a friend to watch my thoughts, my words and my focus. Truth is I have felt out of sorts for weeks now. Starting today I am taking a week “news fast.” It is an excellent time to reenergize my thinking with Catherine Ponder classics.

I started this morning with Dare to Prosper, a slim, 66 page, “bottom line” guide to physical, mental and spiritual prosperity.

Here – I can share a little with you now.

Chapt. One: The First Step To Prosperous Thinking: Creating a Vacuum To Receive
Thoughts are things and occupy “space” in mind. We cannot have new or better ones in a place already crowded with old, weak, inefficient thoughts. A mental housecleaning is even more necessary t6hat a material one.

I don’t have to dig deep to uncover unhealthy, energy sucking mental thoughts that I need to clear out. What about you?

Health Is Recovered After Release of Grudge
Again, I don’t have to dig deep! What about you? What do you need to release?

A suggested affirmation is “I fully and freely release and forgive. I loose and let go all ill feeling. Divine love produces the perfect result now.”

Form A Physical Vacuum
Paperwork, files, clothes, stuff, mess. bleh.
Yes. I have a bit of that to clear out this week and weekend!

Let Go Of Unpleasant Relationships.
I don’t know that I have an unpleasant relationship to let go of as much as I have to let go of unpleasant thoughts about a couple of relationships. I’ll journal on this and see if anything else comes up … And you?

There. That’s enough to get you (and me!) started. Why don’t you take a moment now to order your copy of Dare to Prosper, (only $7.95 through Amazon). Order 2 copies and gift one to your best girlfriend. When two or more are gathered and supporting each other the results are powerful!!!

(For your information, below is a listing of my favorite prosperity readings. It all starts between the ears and lands in our health, heart and pockets.)

Some Beach -- Sing it baby, sing!

Take a break from whatever is dragging you down and sing along with this song, Some Beach . It was sent to me by one of my best girlfriends (thank you Kathy!) and it is raising my vibrations HIGH!

Your turn ...http://www.jango.com/music/Blake+Shelton?l=0
Some Beach by Blake Shelton
Driving down the interstate
Running thirty minutes late
Singin' Margaritaville and minding my own
Some foreign car drivin' dude with the road rage attitude
Pulled up beside me talkin' on his cell phone
He started yelling at me like I did something wrong
He flipped me the bird an' then he was gone

Some beach
Somewhere
There's a big umbrella casting shade over an empty chair
Palm trees are growin' and a warm breezes a blowing
I picture myself right there
On Some beach, somewhere

I circled the parkin' lot, tryin' to find a spot
Just big enough I could park my old truck
A man with a big cigar was getting into his car
I stopped and I waited for him to back up
From out of no where a Mercedes Benz
Came cruisin' up and whipped right in

Some beach
Somewhere
There's no where to go when you got all day to get there
There's cold margaritas and hot Senoritas smiling with long dark hair
On some beach
Somewhere

I sit in that waiting room
It seemed like all afternoon
The nurse finally said doc's ready for you
you're not gonna feel a thing we'll give you some novicane
That tooth will be fine in a minute or two
But he stuck that needle down deep in my gum
And he started drillin' before I was numb

Some beach
Somewhere
There's a beautiful sunset burning up the atsmosphere
There's music and dancing and lovers romancing
In the soft evening air
On some beach
Somewhere
On some beach, somewhere

Balance - How are your rooms?

There is an Indian belief that everyone is in a house of four rooms: A physical, a mental, an emotional and a spiritual. Most of us tend to live in one room most of the time, but unless we go into every room every day, even if only to keep it aired, we are not complete."
-- Rumer Godden, English novelist

It's not a new idea that we need balance to be complete. But how many people actually achieve it?

Some people live so much in their bodies - they're running around, eating right and getting plenty of exercise. Nothing wrong with that! Unless they're exercising compulsively and maybe not nourishing the rest of their needs.

Or how about the people who live in their heads? They're always thinking, doodling, plotting and planning. (I'm one of those people.) And it can be so tempting to do just one more thing, write one more paragraph, think something else, and forgo exercise or spiritual practice.

Other people are intensely involved in their emotional life, measuring how they feel internally about everything that comes up. That can be a great way of checking in with their Unconscious Mind, as that's where the emotions live, but some people hop from one emotional state to another without any balance or peace of mind.

And then there are spiritual people who would prefer to meditate or pray to the exclusion of everything else.

I really like that idea of just airing the room - making sure that you're doing at least one small thing in each of those areas. Because it's true - when you take care of your body, stimulate your mind, honour your emotions and feed your spiritual side, life just flows. It's easy. Effortless. Fun. Happy.

So here are a handful of suggestions for each of those areas, click here for the rest of this story!

Frugal Price Alert - Spelt Flour – Healthy Alternative to White & Wheat Flour

I discovered the joy of spelt flour thanks to my husband’s intolerance of wheat, white, corn and “you-name-it” flours. According to the Blood Type Diet, the most common blood type which is “Type O” is just meant to eat meat, select veggies and grains and definitely not wheat.

So I went hunting for a bread substitute which led me to spelt flour, something all the blood types digest well and is delicious. Did I also mention what a picky eater Mikey is?

The best pricing I’ve found is at PurityFoods.com. I just placed an order for a 25lb bag. Total is $52.25 with shipping or $2.09/lb. And … they are including a sample of their sesame sticks and granola cereal for me to try before I buy. Right on!

So as my bread machine toils below I am sitting pretty on a darn good value. You could be next, click here for more info: http://www.purityfoods.com/

Psst. I am not paid to promote this product, just a happy customer who can’t wait to see the happy look on hubby’s face when he comes through the front door smelling hot, fresh bread for din din.

Psst again. To learn more about the Blood Type Diet and other resources I've used to get my energy back and help my husband, please visiit my fatigue recovery resource page at: http://www.fatiguebegone.com/self_help_books_list.htm

Allow the goodness, abundance & joy

I needed to read this today. Maybe you do too. Well --- here it is! Enjoy and allow ...

Allow the goodness.

Whatever you allow to hold you back will hold you back. Whatever you allow to push you forward will push you forward.

There are many factors, circumstances and influences that will flow through your life. Whether each one is a liability or an asset is, for the most part, up to you.

Great disappointments and tragedies can arise out of seemingly perfect situations. And magnificent achievements can come from desperate, seemingly hopeless conditions.

What matters most is not the nature of your situation. What matters most is what you take from it and what you do with it.

Even in places and pursuits where others may have failed, you have the opportunity to succeed. Even those factors that may have held others back can be your motivation to move forward.
Many things may seem inevitable, and yet most things are really not. No matter what life may send your way, choose to use it in a positive, productive and valuable manner.

Allow the goodness, the abundance, the joy, and they will be.

The Quietest Place On Earth - Boost your energy, quietly.

I am intrigued by an article about the quietest place on earth. It is called "One Square Inch of Silence" and is located in Olympic National Park in the state of Washington. Aside from the silence it is full of trees and moss and quiet little animals. Sounds heavenly. (Ode Magazine btw)

Here in my little square of silence I hear the constant hum of my laptop, snuffles and snorts from Velvet and Albert who are lying at my feet and my fingers clicking on the computer keys. And, I can hear my breath.

In a moment I will turn on my creativity music by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and get into that space in my head that is both quiet, spacious and highly energized. I'll hang there as long as I can like a surfer hanging ten.

Where am I going with this?

Find a place today in your head or in your world that is quiet. Sit with it for a moment, longer if you can. Then add in your favorite energizer -- something that makes you feel happy.

Is it Mozart? Calling a girlfriend and sharing a virtual coffee? Going for a walk around the block? Nuzzling your pup? Leaping into the air three times and yelling "I'm excited!" at the top of your voice? (Try that - it really works!)

After you do please post me a note and tell me what you did and how you feel … buzzed, alive, relaxed, amazed, at peace …

Advancing Health Blog and the Glycimic Index

I just found an excellent post and indepth explanation of the Glycemic Index on the Advancing Health Blog. If this story reminds you of you do click on the link at the bottom for more information including a happy ending ...

"I was thin most of my life and then it hit me. I started gaining weight around my middle, my thighs, chest and neck. Even my face became fat! I went to my doctor and asked him what I could do. He said, "Exercise more and eat less." Well, duh! I was expecting something a little more profound than that. I followed his advice and came back in a month. When I got on the scale, I weighed MORE! How could this be, doc? He said that when I increased my exercise, it must have made me hungrier and I must have eaten more. I don't think so. When I was younger, all I had to do was think about losing weight and it would come right off (fast). Why was it so tough now? It's a simple formula, isn't it? Burn more calories than you take in. I had done that all my life and it always worked before. What had changed?

I did not know it but I had put my body on a high-glycemic roller coaster ride. For many years, it was not a problem. My body seemed to handled it just fine with no telling symptoms. Then, all of the sudden, I started putting on 10-15 pounds a year. I was always tired in the afternoon and I found that my memory was not as good as it had been before. The results of the roller coaster had finally caught up with me.

Here's how the glycemic roller coaster works." (Click there for the rest of the story.)

Laughter Yoga - Energy Boost Tip for Today!

I started off yesterday in a state of high amusement. In fact I laughed on and off all and I felt GREAT and full of energy.

What happened? My husband Michael was squeaking when he walked! It reminded me of the Seinfeld episode where George gets a new suit to impress a potential boss and his board. Did you see that? Anyway because he is chubby his thighs rub and the fabric of the suit pants made a whoosh whoosh whoosh sound that had everyone trying to figure out where that sound was coming from!

If you saw that episode you'll be chucking with me. If not, sorry "you had to be there."

Michael was squeaking when he walked because plastic badges on his lanyard were rubbing together. Today he put on on them in a pocket so I have to find something else to laugh about!

And I found it ... Laughter Yoga. This article is a short must read! Click here

Well for one thing, when I cry I often am alone. When I cry with a friend I usually end up laughing!

For example ... once I was crying over being rejected by a man. It had been - shall we say - just one of a series of rejections spanning a couple YEARS of my life. And, prior to being dumped, I'd been looking forward to the date of a lifetime. He was a gourmet cook who was having me over for a delicious meal that would end with candlelight playing off of his sweet face as he played the piano and sang songs that he must have written just for me. (Really, this was the game plan.)

Then came the end-all-call "I feel sick." he said. "We were having dinner tonight? Oh yeah. I forgot about that. I'll call you soon."

I hung up and went straight into despair. At that precise moment, Marci called.

"Marci" I said. "My love life is so bad that I am even being rejected by midgits." (He was very, very short and I am very, very tall. But like I said it had been YEARS and he sang, and cooked and I was starting to see myself looking more and more like Queer Noor...)

Marci & I exploded with laughter - even though I was at that moment absolutely serious. Then she shared some of her pre-hubby escapades and she reminded me of how beautiful and fun and intelligent I was ...

That is what friends are for - they help us laugh at ourselves and life and get back into the game.

Want to LOL (Laugh Outloud) right now? Here are a couple of my favorite funny hotspots including: Mojo1000 Observations of a bus driver "hacking life with a dull blade" Jonathon is a hoot!

Then there is my beloved DogCaptions.com. My brother Richard takes awesome dog photos - adds quirky captions and voila! We have a pack of note cards to cheer on our human friends and raise money, the funny way, for our fur friends. Help us - help yourself and order a pack today!

Then I always enjoy stopping by Paul Gilligans Pooch Cafe. This link often pulls up his daily strip - sometimes it pulls up his innermost thoughts. Sometimes they are the same!

Finally, the photo here is of my new puppy, Albert. He is a 2 year old Bichon Frise that we adopted 2 months ago. A is a constant source of amusement & has our household on the run!

Right now he is chasing Gengus Kitty which is good. Gengus is my 18lb Persian who needs to lose a few lbs and is bigger and stronger than Albert! At night when I am working on the couch Albert will jump on me, lick me and drive me off of this keyboard. That's good. You don't hear of people getting carpel tunnel from petting and playing with pooches! Then Alby constantly makes my husband laugh - even giggle.

If you are Albert-less and Kitty-less, go to Petfinder.com. This weekend is a great time to bring home a little more love and laughter. (By the way - if you are bringing home one why not two? Ask the shelter if the pup or cat of your dreams has a special friend who would like to come home with them.)

Old Friend New Friend Week - 5 Energy Boosting Reasons to Be A Friend

Don't have time for or feeling too tired to connect with friends? Here are 5 excellent reasons for you to pick up the phone and call that girlfriend ... I often call my friends for virtual lunch when there isn't time to get together. We munch and chat and laugh - I always feel more energized when I hang up that phone. (Now - I am talking about calling a friend, not a downer or an energy vampire!)

Health Benefits of Friendship

1. Cheering up a friend – random acts of kindness -can create something known as “helper’s high.”(endogenous opioids” internally produced chemicals that affect our brain like opium.)

2. When women tend or befriend more oxytocin is released which counters stress and produces calming effect. -UCLA Study on Friendship Among Women

3. Not having close friends and confidants is as detrimental to our health as smoking or carrying extra weight.-Nurses Health Study from Harvard Medical School(the famed!)

4. Close friends help keep your immune system strong during times of stress. -Ohio State University Researcher
(One of my favorite, friendly BLOGS is Happy Girl Musing. Terry Hernon MacDonald spent a week on this very topic - friendship. Check it out.)

5. The leading causes of premature death in the U.S. are heart disease, cancer, cirrhosis of the liver, non-car accidents, influenza and pneumonia, vehicle accidents, suicide and homicide. “All of them are tremendously influenced by social isolation, loneliness, and human fragmentation.”
-Dr. James Lynch, author, The Broken Heart: The Medical Consequence of Loneliness

The Energizing Benefits of Smiles!

According to The British Dental Health Foundation "a smile gives the same level of stimulation as eating 2,000 chocolate bars!" And, according to psychologist Dr. David Lewis "Seeing a smile creates what is termed as a 'halo' effect, helping us to remember other happy events more vividly, feel more optimistic, more positive and more motivated."

Want to feel better? Smile more ...

Don't believe me? Prove it to yourself. Make a point of smiling at everyone you see today. And, put a smile on your face when you talk to people you can't see. (You can tell, even over the phone, if someone is smiling or not - can't you?!)

So - give this a try - then post me a comment in the morning ...

:) :) :) Viveca

Fatigue Cause - Anxiety - Read all about some natural remedies for Anxiety

This is good info. In my experience anxiety is a major cause for fatigue. Aside from this article, do tune into my interview with Harriet Lerner, author, The Dance of Fear ...

Natural Remedies for Anxiety

What is Anxiety?

Although it's normal to feel anxious from time to time, if you feel anxious without reason and if these worries persist and affect your day-to-day life, you may have generalized anxiety disorder.

Symptoms of generalized anxiety disorder may include restlessness, feeling tense or on edge, irritability, impatience, or poor concentration. People may also notice changes in their physical health such as headaches, jaw pain, muscle tension, difficulty falling or staying asleep (insomnia), dry mouth, fatigue, chest tightness, indigestion, bloating, excessive sweating, and headache.

It's important to be evaluated by your doctor for a proper diagnosis and to rule out other medical problems that may resemble anxiety.

Benefits of Exercise - including housework!

This is an appropriate read for me today. Been feeling a lot of anxiety since I got home from my cousin's funeral. It shows up as tight, shallow breathing and a quick temper. (How does anxiety show up for you?)

What can I say - I am an HSP (Highly Sensitive Person) and I can pick up an emotion a football field away ... So imagine how it has been being immersed with hundreds of people in the emotion - sorrow - celebration and fear of "what's next?" that comes with the long goodbye.

So today I woke up and just started cleaning. First I gave the dogs a Spring bath, then washed out Peetie's birdcage, next comes the wood floors.

Starting to feel better ... Will end my day with an Epsom salt bath plus lavender essence oil to wash away lingering energy and emotions. Try it yourself whenever the world feels too much on top of you.

Now, here's that article before I forget! Join me in beating back the blues!

Whisk Those Blues Away
Study finds 20 minutes of activity a week, including housework, is good for mental health

April 9 (HealthDay News) -- Scrubbing the tub and other forms of housework may clean your house and boost your mood.

In fact, as little as 20 minutes of any kind of physical activity a week helped mental health, although the more vigorous the activity, the greater the benefit, said the authors of a study published online Thursday in the British Journal of Sports Medicine.

"There's such a pervasive feeling in this country that, if there's a problem, there's always a pill to fix it," said Dr. Suzanne Steinbaum, director of Women and Heart Disease at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City. "This study is just reminding us that it doesn't take much to actually have an effect even on your mood." Click here for the rest of this story.

Action is your answer today.

"When thinking won't cure fear, action will."
– William Clement Stone

If you are reading this, consider yourself served with a call to action. What action will you take TODAY to feel better? to feel lighter? to feel more energized and joy-full?

Will you renegotiate or say "NO!" to an obligation that is sapping your joy? (And "YES" to something you really, really want to do?
Will you go for a luscious, smell the roses, chat with neighbors, pet passing puppies kind of a walk?
Will you call and chat up a friend? Who? (I did this a lot last week - wow did I get an energy buzzzzzz!)
Will you rent a favorite funny movie and watch it with a significant other?

What action will you take today to make today more enjoyable, memorable and spirit kissed?

Despair.com - risky humor.

I am taking a risk by posting this "funny."

This is dark humor - not everyone - including you - may find this funny. And, if you are not amused you may think that I am terrible person to roll with laughter over just about everyone of them.

There are those who laughed all the way through Pulp Fiction and those who didn't laugh once. Which are you? If you are the latter PLEASE skip today's humor and come back tomorrow for a fresh inspiration.

Still here? Then click here to see the big picture behind such jewels as ... (when you click there scroll down the page.)

Life Keeps Getting Better with Terry Hernon MacDonald

There is a feeling that comes along with fatigue. Well, there are quite a few actually.

One of my least favorite was hopelessness. That feeling that no matter what you do or don't do you will never really feel like your old self. The self that was tireless, funny, enthusiastic and high on life. Remember that super woman energetic you?

My friend Terry taps out a daily blog that never fails to lift my spirits and, where the spirits go the body is soon to follow.

Here is a post from Terry Hernon MacDonald, founder of Happy Girl Musing. It is titled "Life Keeps Getting Better." Enjoy.

We've all heard the garbage about a woman over age 35 meeting a decent man being about as likely as her dying in a plane crash. Yesterday, I met yet another woman who defied that nonsense.

She's 53, positive-minded, active, and an enthusiastic newlywed, but she could have been a real sad sack. She had plenty of cause to feel sorry for herself. In April 2007 (11 months ago), she was hit by a car and told she would ever walk again.

Doctors said they'd have to amputate her right foot. She refused to believe them.

Call it faith in God, call it the Law of Attraction, call it whatever you want: She determined that a power mightier than modern medicine created her and would heal her foot. She would walk again.

Do I need to tell you that she did not lose her foot? That she was walking fluidly-- without a limp -- 11 months later? Now, I can't say what her foot looks like under the sleek high-heeled boot she wore; she did say it's been fortified with pins.

But whatever it looks like, it's not stopping her. As I said, she's newly married and clearly enjoying life. I wish I'd had the chance to ask her about her new husband, especially how she met him.

My guess is she did it the same way she healed her foot. She surely wouldn't be the first person who succeeded in meeting the man of her dreams this way.

To learn more about Terry why don't you tune into my interview with her on the "Secrets of Attraction." You are gonna love to hear what she has to say ...

Tooth Ache Diet Re-Energizes FAST, 24/7

Well, not exactly 24/7. Every so often – like as often as possible, I pop a couple aspirins and get a break from the pain. Nothin' like a tooth ache to take one’s mind off of dis-eases - physical, mental or spiritual!

For example, you won’t notice how tired you are feeling when your mouth is throbbing and you are counting down the hours AND dreading the “fix it” dental appointment. An unpaid bill will suddently seem trivial and you will find your connection to spirit deepening ...

I want you to know something. I do not recommend this method of eliminating fatigue or losing weight. (Did I forget to mention that every time I eat, it aches worse so I am eating less?)

Energy Tip # 6. STOP. Ask for help.

Health Quote - Growing older can be ...

"Growing older can be a wonderful adventure, so long as you remember that the operative word is 'growing' " -unknown

Yesterday I grew in spite of myself. I didn't want to go to the gym, but I did. Somehow I ended up in a Qigong/Tai Chi class. I had always wanted to experience Qigong - Years ago I watched one of my best Friends, who could barely move or breathe, use it to come fully back to life. Not to sound cliched but her transformation was like "night to day."

It was challenging - an adventure. By the end of it my breathing was fuller, my back had stopped aching and I felt full of energy! It gave me a splash of "V" for variety in my exercise routine. I walk a lot which is great BUT I've been needing something new and cool.

The gym I just joined also has classes in Jujutsu, Kickboxing, YogaFlex, Partner Yoga (do ya think Michael will go for that?!), Zumba (Latin dance & music) Hip Hop, Fit Fusion, Cycling, Swimming and Saunaing. (I made that last one up ...!)

So, I plan to grow and play physically this winter/spring. What about you? What do you do to shake things up?

Clutter is exhausting. Tips to Get Rid of It ...

Holding on to stuff - whether it is in your closet or in your head is exhausting. The aggravation is that drip, drip, drip -- the pebble in the shoe that annoys, stresses and distracts you from the relaxing pleasures in life. I like this article by my friend Ramona who is an organizing pro - hope you will too and do visit her site and get the help you need from products and professionals who will come to your house and take you by the hand ... - Viveca

CLEARING THE CLUTTER OUT OF YOUR PERSONAL LIFE
By Ramona Creel

When most of us think of clutter, we think of a physical mess -- A stack of paper on the desk, a pile of clothes on the closet floor, a garage we can't fit our car into. But clutter extends beyond your surroundings and insinuates itself into your personal life. Clutter is anything EXTRANEOUS or unnecessary -- anything that takes up time, space, energy, or money without giving you a tangible result. You've learned how to clear out the "junk" in your home and office -- now let's talk about cleaning out your personal life.

YOUR SCHEDULE

Take a look at your calendar and your "to-do" list -- how much of what you have written down is critical to your survival on this planet? Very little, I'm sure. How many of your appointments involve something that you dearly love to do. A great deal, I hope -- but if you're like most people, probably not. Unfortunately, most folks' schedules are filled with external obligations -- things that you have promised other people. "I have to pick up my kids from soccer practice." "I have to attend committee meeting." "I have to, I have to, I have to." Guess what -- you don't have to! You only have to do what you decide to do. If you don't want to do it, say NO.

I'm not suggesting that you turn completely selfish -- compromise is an important part of maintaining civil relations with those around you! I'm merely suggesting that you be very judicious about what you put in your schedule. Get rid of that knee-jerk reaction of saying "yes" every time someone asks you to volunteer. It's all a matter of training the people around you not to automatically expect you to participate.

YOUR FINANCES

Didn't realize you could have clutter in your finances, did you? Take a look at your spending patterns -- do you see any money leaks? Money leaks are places where your hard-earned dollars are slipping away without you even realizing it. Your money leak could be buying snacks at work -- or late fees and interest charges that accumulate when you forget to pay your bills -- or groceries that go bad before you get a chance to eat them.

Try keeping track of every penny you spend for the next month -- that includes personal items, business expenses, snacks, whatever. This may sound hard, but it's not bad if you get into the habit of carrying a small notebook with you. At the end of the month, take a look at your expenses -- you'll be surprised to see where your money goes. Once you say, "My gosh, I had no idea I spent so much on magazines!" you know how to curb your money leaks.

YOUR RELATIONSHIPS

This is always a hard one. People feel trapped in relationships that are "less than fulfilling" for so many reasons -- low self-esteem, fear of change, habit, or just because it's easier than leaving. But most people stay in difficult relationships for one simple reason -- because they never stopped to think that they had another choice.

And I'm not just talking about seriously dysfunctional relationships -- ones involving substance abuse or screaming fits or violence. You might have a friend who complains about her life every time you're together. Or a family member who borrows money and never pays you back. The point is, you're not getting enough positive return out of the arrangement -- and something has to change.

So let's do the old "Keep," "Get Rid Of," and "Not Sure" with your relationship. "Keep's" are pretty clear -- those near and dear to you. "Get Rid Of's" might be a bit harder -- but you need to learn when to call it quits. If you can't think of anything good about the relationship, ask yourself why you really need that person in your life. The "Not Sure's" are those mixed relationships -- some things are good and some are intolerable. Your job is to present your concerns to the other person. Set up some RULES -- this certain thing has to happen more/less for this relationship to work. And be open to discussing the other person's rules as well. If you can reach a mutually satisfying agreement, dandy. If not, they go into the "Get Rid Of" pile.

YOUR JOB

Employment has become a institutionalized form of slavery in our modern society. Why do we feel we have no say over our work environments? That we just have to take what we get? Again, most people "put up with" their job situation because they never think to do otherwise. What kind of clutter could you clear out AT WORK -- cutting down on unnecessary meetings? Reducing the number of reports you have to generate? Handing a few of your menial duties off to an administrative assistant?

What do you think would happen if you approached your boss with a list of suggestions (in a pleasant and professional way, of course)? Would you get fired -- or would your employer take time to consider your needs? If you would get fired, maybe you don't need that job! It's worth a try, anyway. And if you're self-employed, pretend that you are taking a list of concerns to your boss -- would you look at your job duties any differently if you worked for someone else? Why don't you treat yourself at least as well as you would treat an employee?

YOUR OWN HEAD

We saved the most challenging area for last! How much "junk" do you have floating around in your head, littering your thoughts? People don't stop to think about emotions as clutter -- because they aren't tangible. But guilt, jealousy, anger, and unreasonable expectations of what we can accomplish in a day eat up as much of our time and energy as other forms of clutter.

Think about the last time you had something heavy on your mind -- did you get much work done that day? I'll bet that every time you set out to accomplish a task, you were distracted by your thoughts. The only way to make these bad boys go away is to become CONSCIOUS of them. Pay attention when your mind strays to some unproductive and negative emotion -- and make a concerted effort to let it go. This will take some practice -- awareness of your mental state doesn't happen in a day -- but it will pay off in the end.

Insomnia and Fatigue - Fatigue and Insomnia - A vicious cycle ...

Insomnia and Fatigue ... While updating a couple pages here today I was reminded of my old enemies, insomnia and fatigue. See I haven’t had a problem with either in quite sometime - that’s why I had to be reminded. They used to rock and rule my life.

Are you caught up in this vicious cycle of can’t sleep well at night & don’t want to get up in the morn? This link may be your first step to recovery. It starts with the letter M …

Float like a butterfly ... Color is powerful.

Wow. This "float like a butterfly" photo is absolutely stunning. Click here to see it for yourself. This color combination is powerful and energizing. Today wear something yellow or pink or orange and notice how you feel ...

Then, report back!

PSST. You just stepped in poop.

What in the world does dog poop have to do with fatigue? Well, when you're tired all the time your senses start to dim, starting with your sense of humor. It becomes a vicious circle. The more tired you are, the less you laugh. The less you laugh the more tired you are. The more tired you are - the less you laugh - the less energy you have to care about yourself and others.

I invite you to take a break. I invited you to have a belly laugh or two or three AND share it with your 13 favs.

How? My brother Richard and I are selling the "Barker's Dozen Friendship Cards" to raise money for spaying and neutering pets. They also promote adoptions and volunteering ...

Each pack consists of 13 hilarious and heartfelt greeting cards. Each photo and caption is different - get ready to laugh, sigh, snort, chuckle, connect and commiserate. You may have to keep one for yourself - on your desk as a reminder to lighten up.

Finally, they are an easy way to send an "I Love You" to a friend. You're tired of just getting bills and ads in the mail - so are your friends. Cheer them up - cheer them on and you will give your own adrenals a BIG boost.

I don't know of anything more energizing then L-O-V-E. Do you?

Please click here to order your Barker's Dozen Friendship Pack from the SPCA of Fredericksburg (thru eBay.) If you would like to sell these as a fundraiser for yours, just drop me a note at Viveca@FatigueBeGone.com
