Colors of the Chakras Meditation.

Today I am starting my days with all the Colors of the Chakras Meditation!

I have been everywhere over these past couple weeks mentally, physically and emotionally. I have been "too busy" to feed my spirit with readings, rest or meditation. That's THE SIGN that I need it most.

So right now instead of go-go-going, I paused to re-Energize all of me.
I started with the tip top of my crown chakra
to the third eye chakra,
to the throat chakra,
to the heart chakra,
to the solar plexus chakra
to the sacral chakra
and finally, to the root chakra.
(This is supposed to be red!)

Your turn. It is time to pause, close your eyes and involve your senses.

Touch: Use a hand to tap each body part as you visualize the colors. You will tap the top of your head, then ... your third eye/forehead, throat, heart, rib cage, belly and groin.

Hearing: Use your voice to say each word out loud. Sight: Use your mind to bring in each color along the way. Smell: Breathe in jasmine or lemon or lavendar through your nose. Exhale stale thoughts and stress through your mouth. Use your sacred breath to recharge and relax all-of-you chakra by chakra.

There. How did you like that?! Repeat as needed -- I will.

FYI: I love to have relaxing scents all around me ... my desktop, kitchen counter, bedside. Feels - smells so good! Here is one brand I recommend ...

Pretty delicious ...

The Food Pyramid suggests 3 to 5 servings of vegetables each day. One serving of vegetables can be:

1 cup of raw leafy vegetables
1/2 cup of other vegetables, cooked or raw
3/4 cup of vegetable juice

I like to gather a mix of colors, saute with olive oil, add shredded ginger, a pinch of cayenne pepper and 3 or 4 cloves of garlic.

Easy, energizing, pretty and delicious!

Homemade Taco Seasoning

One of my favorite blogs for healthy, fun recipes is The Cheap Gourmet. Give this tasty seasoning a try. It is full of the right stuff to get your blood circulating and your energy pumping. I'll explain why tomorrow.

Super Easy Homemade Taco Seasoning
Yield: 1.25 ounces Prep Time: 10 minutes

2 teaspoons Adobo Seasoning
1 teaspoon Kosher salt
1 teaspoon Black Pepper,
freshly ground1 teaspoon Cayenne pepper
1 teaspoon Paprika1 Cowhorn*
Pepper, minced

Mix all ingredients together. Add to one-pound ground beef, turkey or chicken (cooked and drained). Add 2/3-cup water to meat.Bring to a quick boil, than simmer over low heat for 10 minutes.

You can double, triple or even quadruple this recipe and store in an airtight container. If storing, do not include the Cowhorn pepper. You'll need to add that at the time of use.

Poof! All gone ... until I want it back.

Sometimes you just have to make things all gone.

I moved into our new home the end of May. Somehow, believe it or not, most of the rooms still have one or two unfinished projects hanging out.

In the bedroom there is the unhung painting of lovebirds. In the living room my doll collection awaits a display box, posters wait for frames and ... In the dinette an army of little nick knacks litter the window sills.

I'll stop now before I totally stress you out too.

Unfinished projects are a part of life and so is choice. Today I chose to put these bits and bobs into a big plastic bin that slides so nicely under a table. Poof! Just like magic the "to dos" fade back, the guilt is gone and I am enjoying the house more.

What do you need to pack or bag? Give yourself permission to not be perfect today or tomorrow or this month.

Now, enjoy the rest of your day. I will.

Walk Away & Hold It!

Walk Away.

Is a toxic relationship sucking you dry?You don't have to stay - you can, literally, walk away.

Often the simplest solutions are completely overlooked.

And, those Energy Vampires can cross the line - phone line that is. The phone version of the Walk Away maneuver is called Hold It!

It's simple. Just ask them to "Hold It." Push that hold button & take a break. Take the time you need to collect your thoughts, breathe deeply and relax. Then, when you are ready, get back on the line and handle the situation calmly.

Feeling victimized is exhausting. Remember - YOU have choices. Use them!

Tuna Fish PLUS Anti-Oxidants. Yum.

I have simple tastes, comfort tastes. Tuna Fish sandwiches bring back memories of me and mom - I can close my eyes and see her piling tuna fish atop a saltine cracker. This little meal was invariably topped off with a couple peanut butter or jam crackers.

I had an urge to update and eat this fav today. Here goes ...

Mom's Tuna Fish Sandwich Mine!

Can of Tuna fish Can of Tuna fish
Mayonnaise - Deleted - Used Plain, Low fat "Active Culture Yogurt"
Sandwich bread or saltine crackers Whole wheat sandwich wrap

ADDED: 1 Celery Stock, 1 Diced Carrot, 1/2 Diced "Sweet" Onion & 1 Garlic Clove
2 TBSP Parsley
1 TBSP of the marjoram spice

Notes
: The plain yogurt is less caloric and the "active cultures" promote the growth of healthy bacteria in your colon & boosts immunity; the celery stock, carrots and onion add fiber which helps digestion and keep your colon healthy; the sweet onion contains quercetin a powerful anti-oxidant (see below); Garlic is another super anti-oxidant; Parsley is an excellent source of vitamin A, vitamin C, and vitamin K. It is also a good source of iron and ... an anti-oxidant! Finally, the spice Marjoram (or lemon balm, ginger and cumin spices) dramatically up the anti-oxidant value of any meal.

Now - about all these anti-oxidants. Bottom-line - Antioxidants help prevent cellular damage, cellular aging and dis-ease.

Gotta love that! Yum.

Teamwork - Who is on your team?

If we were meant to go it alone, we'd be alone. Instead we share this space called Earth with millions and millions ...

My point is - get support from those "in the know" IF you want to feel better - FAST.

Last week I added a personal trainer to my team. My gym offered a free health evaluation and 3 free sessions. It took me a year to take them up on this offer. Why? Because I am used to going it alone. Asking for help showed weakness. (Where did I pick up that energy sucking attitude?)

Long story short - now I know which machines to use and I have a "plan" to build my strength, bones, curves - you name it.

And I found out that I am in EXCELLENT physical shape!

Two years ago I could barely get off a couch or walk - stroll for half and hour. I was tired all the time and slept as much as I could. Little by little - habit by habit - I have rebuilt my mind, body and spirit. That exam was a great validation.

I am not bragging. I am encouraging you to keep chipping away whatever is dragging you down and to keep on trucking, learning, asking and growing until you get your miracle health ...

Don't forget that there is an easy-8-Step program to help you get started NOW.

re-Engergize - Starting with the soles of your feet

Reflexology is nothing new. There is overwhelming evidence that it was practiced as early as 2,330 BC by the Egyptians. (Mark Anthony rubbed Cleopatra’s feet during dinner parties. How can I get my husband to do this?!)

Reflexology is a massage therapy. It presses “reflex” points on the feet or hands to release stress and dis-eases in the body. For example, rubbing points on the big toe can relax our neck, relieve headaches and clear the sinuses! The adrenal gland is found on the arch of the foot. This spot should be gently rubbed regularly …

The Self-Indulgent “Foot Scrub” is loaded with coarse Dead Sea Salts, fine Dead Sea Salts and Epsom salts soaked in sweet almond oil, PLUS an invigorating blend of mint and citrus essential oils. It is the ultimate in foot exfoliation, moisturizing and energizing.

Best of all – it feels so good! You will be inspired to make this “Foot Scrub Reflex Massage”a regular part of your routine. What is good for your feet is GREAT for all of you.

SPECIAL PRICING for Fatigue Be Gone! Guide Owners! “Reflex” Foot Scrub sells for $12.75. You pay only $2.75 plus s/h when you take advantage of the special offer included in the sale of each guide. .

SO - You could be feeling GREAT by the end of the summer and have soft, pretty, touch-me feet OR ...

Progress not perfection.

Start somewhere.

Me, I keep working my way towards the "ultimate" cleanse.

Ultimate to me means I have brought all the right foods and liquids. I have laid out a plan to follow and all systems are GO.

But in between now and that fabulous future is today.

Today I will plump up my chicken salad by adding in chopped cucumbers, squash, chives and apples. I will sprinkle in a couple TBSP of flax and wheat germ. Tonight we will eat a simple lean steak with a big salad side. Why? Because I got to start somewhere (no fast food, nothing white and no dairy) to start something.

Did you see the recipe for the plumped up - fiber & veggie filled meatloaf? Click here.

I'll let you know when I actually get to the cleanse! We'll call this the "pre-cleanse." Does that work for you?

Addiction Related Fatigue

Being driven by your own addiction OR living with the addiction problems of another is exhausting emotionally, physically, spiritually and financially. I know 'cause I did both!

I didn't think I was an addict. It was him. Then I got help and uncovered my addiction to fixing him and over working and over doing most areas of my life. The 'ol takes one to one a.k.a. if you spot it you got it!

You can get a healthy perspective on this topic at one of my favorite watering holes for Internet interviews, Heal Yourself Talk Radio. I also recommend you listen into the "Nice Girls Interview" with the authors of Anxious to Please 7 Revolutionary Practices for the Chronically Nice.

Know this -- You are not alone even if you feel that way. The shame that goes with addictions is isolating BUT trying to solve the unsolvable all alone does-not-work. Click here for resources and connections.

Break Your Fast With Blueberries!

Blueberries ... just one serving of fresh or frozen blueberries provides as many antioxidants as five servings of carrots, apples, broccoli or squash. And, according to Susan Smith Jones they are "packed with anthocyanins which appear to be one of the most potent antidotes to oxidate stress, a process that ages you."

So ... eat up! Start with breakfast and my Blueberry Oatmeal Energize!

Psst. Feel like a piece of burnt toast throughout the day? Or maybe your brains feel like scrambled eggs? You might be suffering from adrenal fatigue. Take our free Fatigue Questionnaire at http://fatiguebegone.com/tired_woman_quiz.htm to discover the true causes of fatigue.

Kudos to Michael Moore & Mike Huckabee

Kudos to Michael Moore & Mike Huckabee for bringing the topic of "self-health" to the American Public. This is a discussion we need to have and NOW is as good a time as any.

Now for individual Kudos -- First to Michael Moore for suggesting:

1. We would have better medical care in Cuba then we do in the U.S. and that

2. We should pour time and money into creating a Cuba-like socialized medicine machine.

SICKO reminds me to keep eating better, getting more exercise, stretching at night, drinking 8 glasses of water a day, cutting back on sugar, elimination "white" and educating myself on health and nutrition. It drives me to nag (oops! encourage) my husband to do the same. I don't want to be a part of his system.

Then kudos to to Mike Huckabee for having the guts to STATE that health is OUR responsibility and not something that will be fixed "if only" we had better medical care.

Don't get me wrong. I Love - I value and am grateful to a number of doctors who helped me, saved my mother and brother's lives, etc.

However I've spent years looking for solutions to unsolvable chronic conditions including asthma, migraine headaches, candida and, of course, chronic fatigue. If there was a pill I could have popped to solve any of these I would have done it BUT having to find, feel, work and research my way back to health made me a stronger, healthier person. Had I waited on congress - on the "system" I would be dead by now or, at least, a Sicko.

Michael Moore has millions and billions of $$$. He can afford the best health care. He can even fly to Cuba to get more. So, obviously great health isn't for sale. It is about the little, daily habits and actions we take to better ourselves. All the kings horses won't fix what we tear down if we aren't willing to do the footwork ...

Don't count on a government program to heal you. Don't wait for something or someone "out there" to change your chronic health condition. Be the change you need.

Mike Huckabee gets my vote. I am even going to send him a campaign contribution and a free copy of my Fatigue Be Gone! Guide. (Do you have yours?)

What say you?

Make that call - Taking action is the ultimate energy boost!

Who do you know could be helping you feel GREAT but, for whatever reason, you keep putting off making that call and scheduling that appointment?

I'll share! For me it was the trainer at my gym.

For the past year I have duly noted the offer of a "Free Assessment" and 3 free training appointments. Instead of taking advantage of this fabulous offer I have been p-r-o-c-r-a-s-t-i-n-a-t-i-n-g.

One of my favorite excuses is that I am not in good enough shape. This is like not hiring a "Merry Maid" because the house isn't clean enough. (I have a girlfriend doing THAT one!) Another is that the trainers are too young and won't be able to relate to me. (Like I'm ancient?! Where did that come from!)

Enough of the excuses! 5 minutes ago I marched into my office and made that call. My first appointment is next Tuesday at 6:00 a.m. with Troy. Troy -- that's my father's name -- must be a good sign! And, you know what? I got such a rush of energy when I hung up that phone. Positive action is the ultimate energy boost!

So my friend - your turn. Take time now - today - to make your call for help. You will be so happy you did!

Energy Boost Recipes -- Mom's Meatloaf

I don't about you but I do not have the time or energy to start all over from scratch in the kitchen. Then it came to me - I don't have to!

In brief - I need to add more fiber - more fruit - more veggies into our diet without driving me - she who does all the shopping, cooking and prep- insane. Then it hit me - why don't I add more of the good stuff into what we are already eating & enjoying ...

Here is my first concoction! My mother's favorite Meatloaf Recipe -- then and now.

* Then * * NOW *
1 lb lean hamburger
1 or 2 eggs
big slush ketchup substituted with an herbed salsa
1 cup corn flakes
big slush milk deleted - no dairy on this cleanse!
fine chopped onions & garlic added extra garlic + 1 cup of chopped zucchini + fresh corn off the cob + 2 TBSP Flax Seed
salt & pepper to taste
top with a coat of ketchup topped with the salsa + 2 TBSP wheat germ

cook about 1 hour @ 350

There you have it. A healthy, simple system you can easily incorporate into your kitchen and liftestyle. Let me know what you cook up. Can post your favorite recipes modifications here to share with the gang? e-mail me at: Viveca@FatigueBeGone.com

What's bugging you?

Me - I have a list. Most of the things on it are ALMOST, but not quite done.

So, guess what? I just read an article that connected the dots between fatigue and dangling "to dos" aka the pebble in the shoe that makes walking miserable!

Now, if I could just find where I filed it I would tell you exactly what it said and have one less incomplete dancing in my mind. Guess I will have to settle for letting go. This is, after all, one form of completion.

What can you complete or erase from your mind or to do list today? Do it.

Is your fatigue vitamin related?

One of my best friends, Craig Arnoff, just put together fantastic information about vitamin deficiencies and interactions AND how to work with the docs to get the help you need. He coached me and my husband - there is an art to this and he is an awesome coach.
Visit him at VitaminTesting.com.

Now - a snippet about those vitamines ...

Vitamin Deficiencies and Vitamin-Drug Interactions: These effects have been well-researched but are rarely diagnosed by doctors since they don't usually test vitamin levels. A primary example is that of Co-enzyme Q10, which is responsible for cellular energy production. Most of the statin (cholesterol-lowering) drugs deplete the body of this essential antioxidant. Magnesium deficiency, which is also caused by taking antibiotics and corticosteriods, is linked to Chronic Fatigue, as are deficiencies in B-12, L-Carnitine, NADH and DHEA.

Fatigue & Colds - Is there a connection?

I was just asked about remedies for the common cold. Interesting because I was planning to write about the connection between fatigue and mental overload ...

According to one of my teachers a cold indicates:
"Too much going on at once. Mental confusion, disorder. Small hurts" and fatigue indicates:
"Resistance, boredom. Lack of love for what one does."
Louise Hay, Heal Your Body

Me - I am doing lots of things at once -- experiencing mental confusion and not loving much of what I am doing! I am preparing to move - spending hours "on hold" making arrangements and filling out forms. Then I've been worrying about everything flowing smoothly ... I haven't even started pack yet!

So -- my remedy for the "cold" and the "fatigue" is to take-it-easy and either do less or choose to be less bothered. Frustration and overwhelm is as much a choice as being relaxed and enjoying the sunset ...

I do have one receipt for colds - a tea that I concocted years ago. Just the thought of it cures me!

The Cold Cure Brew: Bring water to boil is a sauce pan and add a pinch of Cinnamon; a pinch of cayenne pepper; a pinch of nutmeg; a pinch of sage; a pinch of ginger and a pinch of black pepper. Turn the heat down to low and let it brew for 10-15 mins then pour yourself a cup, slip in a couple Cinnamon sticks and sip away.

These are common spices that should be in your cupboard. This brew will raise your body temperature, increase your circulation and move that cold right on out!

Do the right thing.

I am tired today! Last night I did all the things I tell others not to do.

1. Hopped on the computer at 8:30 and starting working on a project. Got me all excited and wired.

2. At 9:30 I called mom and that conversation got my head flipping and flopping as only a phone call with family can. The work and this call pumped me up and into that "2ND Wind."

2. Went to bed at 11:00 fussing about having to get up at 4:30.

3. Guess what? My mind wouldn't turn off. Thinking about work, family and early rising; early rising, family and work ... End result, I slept poorly and I am tired today!

The great thing is that I can start my day over anything. For now I will just keep on keeping on, I will pick a couple projects that I can easily accomplish. Moral Boost = Energy Boost.

Then I will get back on track. Tonight, after 8:00 p.m., OFF go my electronic devises a (computers, telephone and TV.) I will be-in-bed at 9:00 p.m. with an inspirational read and maybe a little company?

Whatever happens rest assured that I will be back on track and re-Energized in the morn. How about you? What is your plan?

Reflexology hits the spot.

Reflexology is a massage therapy. It presses “reflex” points on the feet, or hands, to release pent up energies and dis-eases in the body.

Rub along the side of your foot - from the big toe to your heal to release aches, pains and stiffness in your spine.

Rub the pad of your feet to clear up your lungs --- the ball of your feet to stimulate your thyroid gland.

And the list goes on ... This is a fascinating and easy-does-it way to feel better, uncover blocks and self-health yourself ...

You can read up and practice what you learn with these excellent books on Reflexology. Or, you can learn "hands on" a.k.a. via a therapeutic massage at your local massage therapy school (where the price is right!)

Power Napping a.k.a Relax - don't fight it.

Today I was pooped so what did I do? Gave in and took a 20 minute nap. I woke up feeling great and back in the game. Did a cool little meditation into and out of the nap ... I focused on the word "Life" and spoke it over and over to each part of my body starting with the top of my head. I fell asleep around my breastbone!

Next time I will start with my toes and, the next time you feel weary, nap on it ...

Peppermint Lotion - Ummmmmm.

I was feeling a tad beat from a very active morning. Gardening, mulching, cleaning, cooking - you know - life!

So I did what I would have told you to do. I added 3 or 4 drops of Peppermint Essence Oil to a couple big glops of lotion and rub-a-dub-dubbed it into my feet. Now I am feeling all tingly and alive and energized.

Mission accomplished. Now I'll be up for 9 holes of golf and that accounting work I've been putting off ...

KISP = Keep It Simple Please!

What easy-does-it- actions can you take to give yourself some ease today - this week?

One thing I do is "Double Up." If I have to cook (and I do!) I will double up the recipe. 1/2 goes in the freezer and the rest is for dinner and lunch the next day. These freezer meals add up to days off of cooking. Yee Ha!

If I have to run errands (and I do!) I bag it all and keep it in the car. In goes the laundry for the dry cleaners, books for the library, coupons for free or discounted this and that, the brown shoelace I need to match, mail that needs to go to the post office, the light bulbs that need to be exchanged ...

Find simple ways to make your choreland easier on you. Double Up is one way. Another fav is "Delete It." Will talk about that one tomorrow ...!

The "To Do" List Tip

Here's a great tip from Darlene of Mom-Defrazzler.com

Talk to your Doc

There's nothing like home made chicken soup or a great appointment with a compassionate doc.

Had such an appointment yesterday -- got the valuable intellectual input PLUS a big hug. I really needed it.

This is a reminder that we are not islands - magazines, The Fatigue Be Gone! Guide, girlfriends, family support, interviews, Internet research, health journals - these are all excellent ways to maintain our health BUT don't forget to check in with your doc.

Have you scheduled your annual physical? If not, make that call and then ... give yourself a hug, a couple pats on the back and enjoy the rest of your day!

Thought of laughter boosts happy hormones - Article

Researching the benefits of "be happy" hormones and came across this uplifting jewel.

Here's a tidbit then click below to go to its webpage if you would like to read the rest of the story ...

Just anticipating a good laugh is enough to increase the level of feelgood hormones in your blood, a conference has heard.Previous work has shown that laughter triggers a cascade of beneficial physiological changes. But researchers presenting a new study at the Experimental Biology 2006 conference in the US recently say they've now shown that merely anticipating "mirthful laughter" before watching a funny video has significant neuroendocrine effects.

It's working ... Magnesium

Well I finally got a hold of some Magnesium for Michael and I to try and ... it is working!

Started last week taking 500 mg at night before going to bed. We've been sleeping the night away ever since. Other great news is that Michael is off of the Melatonin he's been taking for the past couple weeks. I am relieved - just didn't feel right to be getting stuck on one solution.

More good news - Also noticing that he has had fewer migraines over the past week. Another symptom of MG deficiency - besides fatigue - is headaches.

An inspirational & omnious little ditty ...

Doing a little spring cleaning today - including some old "memo books" and I came across this little ditty ...

Those who think they have no time for healthy eating will sooner or later
have to find time for illness.

- modified from: Edward Stanley (1826-1893), The Conduct of Life.

Well - I for one am up for more healthy eating & a gentle cleansing. Last fall Michael & I did a togetherness cleanse and we felt GREAT! in time for the holidays.

It was easy - at least to remember. Nothing white (rice/bread/sugar) * lots & lots of vegies * any kind of meat * light on the fruits and those 8 glasses of water a day.

Anyone want to join us? Drop me a note!

The Lemon Water Fatigue Flush

Just reading a cool tip about Lemon Water flushing away fatigue ...

Apparently it can take up to SIX hours to process caffeine - so a late afternoon coffee or cola could be keeping you up till the wee hours.

So, next time try drinking 2TBS. lemon juice in 6 oz warm water an hour before bedtime. The "liminoids" help flush toxins, including caffeine, out of the body SIX times faster.

A lot of 6s in this topic. hmmm. I'll try it anyway. Anything for that good night's sleep. Sweet dreams.

Magnesium & Insomnia & Fatigue -- Duh! What was I thinking?

Today while doing some additional research on Insomnia & Fatigue I stumbled upon my old friend, Magnesium.

For the past year or so I've taken 400-800 mg each night before going to sleep and have, by and large, slept quite well.

Ran out of it about a week ago which corresponds with this recent bout of eyes wide open.

Here is some of the interesting trivia about Magnesium I learned today ...

1. Most women are deficient in Magnesium due to diets high in processed foods, purified drinking water, excessive alcohol, caffeine and exercise, HRT and the Pill.

2. Magnesium levels drop at night leading to poor REM (Rapid Eye Movement) sleep cycles and unrefreshed sleep. Headaches, blurred vision, mouth ulcers, fatigue and anxiety are also early signs of depletion.

3. In addition to sleeping tight, other conditions that may benefit from MG suppliments include: asthma, kidney stones, gastric disturbances and pms.

4. Magnesium deficiency is often misdiagnosed because it does not show up in blood tests – only 1% of the body’s magnesium is stored in the blood.

5. Men need it too. It helped my husband go from toss and turn to sleeping like a babe. Of course, since I was sound asleep you might wonder how I knew ... he told me and showed me by not being crankkkkky and depressed.

WAIT! There's more ...

There are many brands and types of Magnesium. For best absorption you need to order:

* Capsules vs. tablets
* Magnesium citrate vs. oxide or carbonate

And, take it with food whenever possible. Often at night I'll have a cup of wheat bran cereal, TBLS of Wheat Germ (both are excellent sources of Mg.) and a splash of milk or a milk subsitute. By the way ... don't be worring about gaining weight - the better you sleep, the more you lose.

Insomnia Be Gone! Day 1

Last night none of us slept. Michael tossed and turned in spite of the Melatonin he took. "Velvet the dog" had indigestion and roused me from a restless sleep every two hours. I know 'cause I checked the clock.

We woke up kind of grumpy but got up anyway because ...

Fatigue & Insomnia Recovery Tip #1. Get up and go to bed at the same time. We get up on workdays between 5:30 and 6:30. BUT on weekends we tend to stay on the cloud until 9-10-11. Not anymore!

Fatigue & Insomnia Recovery Tip #2. Get more exercise. Just got back from the gym and feeling great! Had to tickle M. into going - so easy to keep that butt planted in the easy chair ...
Change is easier with a buddy. (If you don't live with one find one.)

Check back tomorrow ... I'll share our recovery - what we do - what works & what doesn't. Pls feel free to share and post a comment or two or three or ...

Self-Help: How To Reach Out & Touch, literally.
Massages, Musings, Girlfriends & More

According to Researchers at Duke and the University of Arizona the number of true confidants that Americans say they have in on the decline. In fact, since the 1980s, it has dropped from about three to about two. And, about a fourth of Americans say they have no confidents outside of their families - twice the percentage of two decades ago.

Translation? Americans are increasingly cut off not only from emotional support but from the therapeutic benefits of physical touch as well. Humans, not just Americans, are pack animals. We are "hard-wired" to thrive in social, touchy feely environments. Studies have proven that a simple hug – a little touch – not only lowers output of cortisol, a stress hormone, but triggers a surge of our two “feel good” brains chemicals, serotonin and dopamine.

Call On Love & Recharge in Minutes

According to Suzanne Zoglio, PH.D., author of Recharge in Minutes, a simple 5 minute call in the afternoon can pull you out of that midday energy slump.

Why? My take is that sharing energy builds energy - the ol' 1+1 = 3.

Today I will call Reeny and thank her for taking me in and all about town during my cousin's wedding last weekend. Who will I call tomorrow? Raises my energy just thinking about it!

LOL! and feed your adrenals the good stuff

Belly laughing always makes me feel better but more than that it is healthy for mind & body. Here are a few facts about the health benefits PLUS some of my fav LOL opportunities. Enjoy!
Therapeutic benefits of laugher – click here for the “rest of the story”

Reduction of Stress Hormones - Laughter reduces at least four of neuroendocrine hormones associated with stress response. These are epinephrine, cortisol, dopac, and growth hormone.

Cardiac Exercise - A belly laugh is equivalent to "an internal jogging." Laughter can provide good cardiac conditioning especially for those who are unable to perform physical exercises.

Blood Pressure - Women seem to benefit more than men in preventing hypertension.

Respiration - Frequent belly laughter empties your lungs of more air than it takes in resulting in a cleansing effect - similar to deep breathing.

Insomnia & Fatigue : More "Lights Out" Tips

Lighten up with Lavender essence oil - just a little dab will do. On your pillow, on your nightgown right under your nose ... (Another great soothing scent is Jasmine.)

Magnessium Supplements Try 400-800 mg before you go to bed. Keep on hand by your bedside in case you wake up.

Slow down your day with a quiet, 20 minute read before going to sleep. Something inspirational, peaceful ... click here for my recommended reading.

Get Comfortable. If you don't feel like you are sleeping on a cloud, you aren't comfortable enough. Memory Foam Mattress Toppers - Tried them? You will experience 70-80% less toss, less turn. Sleep tight - all night.Delicious! Available in a range of options through Amazon.com

Start slowing down at least an hour before going to bed. Get off the internet, the tube, the phone and ease away from the day. A little journaling would do nicely ...

Talk it out! Is a disagreement with a loved one on your mind? Make amends to them & to yourself then let go and turn out the lights.

Skip the "nightcap." It might help you fall asleep but it will interrupt your sleep patterns.

Go to sleep with your first normal urge. For example staying up beyond 11:00 may kick you into an exhausting "second wind" that keeps you up even later. It's a bad habit and you will pay for it in the morn.

re-Energizing Tip - Break Your Fast Right

After we wake up & after that big glass of hydrating H20 and between lunch there is this event called breakfast. The old me used to drink my water through it. Oh about 1/2 a pot of coffee was all I needed.

Adrenal fatigue cured that bad habit. Now I start my day with the Blueberry Oatmeal Energize and that is how I feel - energized! And alert, satisfied and ready for anything.
Click here for the recipe and see if it doesn't give you a boost up on your day.

Insomnia and Fatigue : Insomnia is the "dark side"

It is cruel how insomnia and fatigue seem to go hand in hand. No wonder so many of us feel tired all the time.

Here are a few tips, tools and techniques to help you sleep tight, all night.

* Get to sleep before 11:00 p.m. Our adrenals do most of their recharging between 11:00 pm - 1:00 am. (And you want to be asleep before that adrenal fatigue "second wind" comes in.)

* Start slowing down at least an hour and 1/2 before going to bed. Get off the Internet, the tube, the phone and ease away from the day. A little journaling would do nicely ...

* Fluctuations in hormones mean women are more prone to missing out on a good night's sleep than men are. In fact, studies show that women are up to 50 percent more likely to suffer from insomnia than their male peers. My favorite on-line community for this issue is HormonalHaven@yahoogroups.com. Drop Tracy a line or jump into a conversation. There is a lot of great healing going on here and her "herbal harmonizing creme" works great for me.

re-Energizing Tip - First thing in the morning ...

First things first. Before your first cup of coffee or juice in the morning, slip in a big 8 oz glass of water. Why? Dehydration is a major “hidden fatigue” cause.” Caffeine dehydrates and the sugar in juice amps. Your best bet for balanced energy begins with H2O.

Super Women Push - Real Women Pray

When the Super Woman bug bites, my knee jerk reaction is to try harder, push harder, run faster, do more, try this, manipulate that ... Used to think it was because I was so smart that I had so many ways to overcome!

Now I recognize that kind of urgency and all those options as fear powered by monkey mind.

Instead of doing more I take that heart pounding as a sign I need to pray more. And, today is shaping up to be one of those days ...

Here are a couple of my favorite prayers:

Relax, let go, Let God.

Super Women - Speed vs. Spirit

When I am in Super Woman mode I depend on speed and illusions. I imagine because I am on the lam, without a quiet moment to connect with spirit, that I am actually accomplishing something great.

Denial is not a river in Egypt as my bro likes to tell me. Items checked off of long "To Do" lists do not make a super life - they make a super exhausting life. Been there - done that.

When I am in Real Woman mode, I rely on spirit and act on intuitive hunches & the revelations that come to me in the seconds I hang between sleep & awakening. When I am in Real Woman mode I accomplish MORE in LESS time and it is "what matters most" vs. "whatever." Cell Phone Karma: Real Women recovery secrets begin

Super Women are always on the go-go-go and always plugged into widgets. They think they're in control but really they are constantly on the beck & call of others. The more widgets -the more calls and less peace, confidence and grace.

Real Women Recovery Secret #1
If it beeps, burps, vibrates, rings, sings or interrupts ... turn it off. Only turn it on when 1) it is safe to communicate and 2) necessary to communicate and 3) get clear about what "necessary" means.

Real Women can sit through meals, birthdays, weddings and funerals with IT turned OFF. On the other hand a Super Woman friend of mine spent my entire wedding reception sending & receiving messages on her Blackberry! Come on!

Don't turn them on when you are with friends, shopping in grocery stores, waiting in lines in public places or else you might have your own close encounter with ... Cell Phone Karma.

Super Women Sag - Do we?

Why Super Women Sag.

O.k., I'll speak for myself. I used to (and sometimes still) sag because one more thing on top of one more thing on top of one more thing used to smooch the life out of me.

I remember one time my father said "Darlin' no matter what I do to help you it doesn't make any difference. You just add on more ..." Dad is a man of few words who never complains. I took that to heart but couldn't figure out what to do differently. Over doing was all I knew how to do. The only way I could stop myself was by getting really, really sick.

Tomorrow, let's put our capes away and share some down to earth Real Woman Recovery Secrets. Thanks for visiting and feel free to post any secrets of your own ...

Super Woman - who are we?

Super Women Suck at enjoying life.

Remember science class where we had to make assumptions then prove them right, or wrong?

Here’s my case.

#1. 80% of American Women will suffer from adrenal fatigue. And what causes Adrenal Fatigue? Stress, shocks to our systems and sucking it up to prove we’re tough. (I even had a doctor tell me to “tough it out.” The Doc was, of course, a … she.)

Super Women marry, manage households, work full-time jobs, have kids, add kid’s stuff like affection, attention and commuting … We cook, clean, and garden … We do all the Martha Stewart stuff without the staff.

Sometimes we sensibly cut back to part-time hours, a measly 40 some hours per week vs. the 50 plus. Wuu Huu! Now that's a relief.

We have sex FAST, sleep less and push our husbands to do more so that we can add more onto our Super Women “To Do” Lists.

Results? Our kids our tired, our husbands are tired and we are sick & tired - guilt ridden and cranky - especially with our super families.

Now what part of that sounds enjoyable?

Your super dooper comments are welcome. Tomorrow, Day 2, Why Super Women Sag.

Body Talk - Relax, let go, let God.

I am arisen from my bed like the pheonix from its ashes. Ten days of flu! Puts everything into perspective - there are worse things than feeling tired ...

One thing I read during my aches, pains, sweats and fevers was a book called The Dynamic Laws of Healing. One of its suggestions was to talk to my body. I was supposed to tell my body what I wanted it to do and, according to the author, it would obey.

So I did. I started telling it to Relax, let go, let God.

Guess what? It works! Now when I go to bed at night I tell my body to Relax, let go ... and I sleep like a baby. I use it during the day when I am working or cooking or driving and feel anxieties or frustrations on the rise.

Results. I feel more relaxed, am breathing better, have more focus, humor and energy!

Your turn. Start talking to your body and see what miracles you can co-create.

Fatigue is a Gift. Don't dull it ... uncover it?

"Drugs never cure disease. They merely hush the voice of nature's protest, and pull down the danger signals she erects along the pathway of transgression. Any poison taken into the system has to be reckoned with later on even though it palliates present symptoms. Pain may disappear, but the patient is left in a worse condition, though unconscious of it at the time."
~ Daniel. H. Kress, M.D.

Suggestion from me: One way I uncover vs. cover up is to journal. 3 pages a day to be precise. Click here for "how to" get started & activate your healer within ...

Is it all in your mind?

Have your tried this and tried that? Have you read this and read that? Have you been diagnosed with this fatigue only to decide it is really THAT fatigue?

Maybe it is time for you to stop the running around, second guessing and worrying.
Maybe it is time to get quiet. It was for me.

Couple weeks ago I started to get "Restless Leg Syndrome" Symptoms. I couldn't believe it! Another fatigue to deal with?! This was too much on top of too much. (I've already worked through adrenal fatigue, borderline anemia, hormones, candida and allergies.)

I confess. I was feeling sorry for myself.

By coincidence I had just received an order of Catherine Ponder books. Meta-physical, mind/body connection books. I picked up "The Dynamic Laws of Healing" and headed for the bathtub for a long, hot, soothing soak and read.

Can't tell you exactly what happened but something in me shifted. I slept like a baby that night - my legs stopped twitching and I have felt GREAT ever since.

If you have been there & done that with doctors & diet & lifestyle changes and you are still tired all the time get a copy of this book and see what it brings up for you.

The Dynamic Laws of Healing can be ordered through many places BUT I recommend that you purchase your copy through the I Am Foundation. Your purchase will be counted as a donation - you'll help yourself and a great organization.

Anxiety. Not a Mother's Best Friend.

Generalized Anxiety Disorder, a.k.a incessant "worst case scenario" worry about everyday everythings, affects 4 million Americans. This is about 2.8% of the population. Women are twice as likely to be afflicted than men and most of those women are ... MOMS.

Anxiety is uncomfortable. It shows up as fatigue, insomnia (love that combination!), headaches, fear, frequent need to pee, constipation and nausea. IT make sex a chore, puts butterflies in our stomachs and makes us cranky with the kids.

Journaling is one technique that helps many women uncover and recover from the "hidden fatigue" of anxiety.

What are you thinking that is making you feel so tired?

If Thinking = Feeling. What are you thinking that is making you feel so tired?
Adrenal Fatigue * Addictions * Anxiety * Borderline Anemia * Candida
Healing your Fatigue the Louise Hay Way.

Louise L. Hay, an internationally-renowned teacher and author of the mind/body connection classic, Heal Your Body, draws a beeline between our thinking and our physical feeling, including Fatigue. (This book is my self-care bible.)

If you feel sluggish, fatigued and over the hill, maybe it has nothing-at-all to do with your age or “that time of the month.” Maybe it really is "all in your head. "

Here are some Louise Hay meanings for the fatigue you may be feeling.

Adrenal Problems including Adrenal Fatigue correspond to feelings of defeatism, anxiety and “no longer caring for self.”

Addiction Problems – Running from self. Fear. Not know how to love the self.

Anxiety – Not trusting the flow and the process of life.

Borderline Anemia, another very common women’s fatigue, is fear driven. Fear of life, fear of not being “good enough.” “Yes-but” attitude. Lack of joy.

What about Candida? Frustration, anger – feeling scattered and overrun. Untrusting in relationships – great takers. Ouch.

These are the just the As, Bs and Cs of Fatigue. Check back next week for our next set. D, F, I and L. Oh, and I'll share some healing antidotes and opportunities. Would you like to heal your thinking and re-Energize?

Ladies! de-Frazzle and re-Energize with ...

doubling up, sneaking green & power snacking!

No matter what is going on or how busy we may be there is still one thing we all have to do everyday. Several times a day. We Eat. Usually we feed others too.

Let’s save time and make this easy on ourselves.

One way is to “double up.” Specifically, double up every dinner recipe you make this month. Gonna cook for four? Cook for eight instead. One meal goes on the table, the other goes in the fridge.

Another way is to “add extra.” Your recipe calls for a cup of rice and a pound of spinach? Make it a cup and half and a pound and a half. What you don’t eat for dinner turns into a microwave lunch. Still a little “left over”? Freeze it!

Your goal ladies - should you decide to take it on – is to cook double enough and extra enough so that you don’t have to cook at all for a couple days each week! Wuuu Huuu!

That’s almost as good as having someone else cook for you. Well ….

So, that’s how you save time – lots of time. Now to gain some energy.

Wherever possible, sneak in something green. ‘Tis the time of year for stews & soups and casseroles, perfect places to snuggle in some iron rich kale, green beans, spinach, mustard greens. That’s my version of pumping iron! And, since you are cooking double, you’ll be pumping double!

Last but not least – the Power Snack. Don’t go hungry skipping meals or between meals. You have too much to do. Make, take it and never leave home without it. “It” is a baggie of almonds & dates & sunflower seeds & pumpkin seeds & raisins. Yep, more iron. More energy. More brain power. More long line and traffic stamina. More YOU Power.

Go get ‘em baby! Just do it the easy way. O.k.?

S-T-R-E-T-C-H - What do you need right now? Ask for it.

•Tea-Leaf Reading You Can Trust (think green)

Special Thanks to Tracy of Hormonal Haven for this energizing tip!

Tea leaves at the bottom of your cup really do reveal clues about your future.

See green leaves in your mug a couple of times a day? All signs point
to long-term benefits for your ticker. Research shows that just two 8-
ounce servings a day of polyphenol-rich green tea can dramatically
reduce the risk of dying from heart disease and can cut the risk of
stroke in women as well. Wondering what the future holds? Put your
money on green tea, not fortune-tellers.
The polyphenols in green tea gobble up free radicals and improve
artery function, both of which help keep diseases at bay. Drinking 16
ounces a day (about 500 milliliters) cut the risk of death due to
cardiovascular disease by 26 percent in a recent study. And the more
green tea people drank, the more protection they got. Although both
men and women were shielded, the benefits were more pronounced in
women.

Two cups a day isn't a lot, but even if you don't average that much
green tea daily, don't give it up. Drinking at least half a cup (4
ounces) a day was linked to some reduction in mortality risk. So grab
a teacup, point that pinkie, and drink to a healthy future.

Great Expectations & how to handle them …

Here we are – November 6th. Many of us are already on edge thanks to all that Halloween candy for the kids…! Today - be bold – be your own best friend & throw out whatever remains! Then, pause and get on top of your “to dos” by exercising your Ds …

Ds … DO it now, Delegate, Delay or Delete. You Decide!

Step 1: 1st make your “To Do” List (put on a little Chopin to get in the mood!)

Step 2: Review Your “To Do” List & elaborate i.e. “Bake Christmas Cookies.” How many types? How many batches? By When? Who’s helping you?

Step 3: 2nd Review. Write a “D” word next to each item as in DO (with a “now or soon” date);Delegate (with a name); Delay or Delete (with a happy face next to each!)

To decide, I ask myself “How Important Is It Anyway?” How important is it that I bake 5 different cookies vs. 2? How important is it to write 100 Christmas cards before Christmas vs. spread them out through the New Year? How important is it to decorate inside, outside and upside down …

What matters most right now is to take good care of ourselves and to nourish our connection to each other and spirit. This holiday season you can relax and enjoy. Or you can join the crowd - rush around, rush others and feel tired and hassled. You get to decide!!!

Too sweet for your own good?

Excess sugar consumption is one of the major causes of fatigue … and the list goes on from there to hypoglycemia, diabetes, heart disease and chronic tiredness.

Then - Prior to the turn of this century (1887-1890), the average consumption was only 5 lbs. per person per year!

Now - The average American consumes an astounding 2-3 pounds of sugar each week … In the last 20 years, we have increased sugar consumption in the U.S. from 26 pounds to 135 lbs. of sugar per person per year!
http://www.healingdaily.com/detoxification-diet/sugar.htm

Wait! There’s More! In 2003, Americans consumed, on average, a dismal 8.3 pounds of broccoli and just over 25 pounds of dark lettuces (the kinds that are really good for you). Compared to the 135 lbs of sugar!!!!

Since 1950, soft-drink consumption per capita has quadrupled, from about 11 gallons per year to about 46 gallons in 2003--nearly a gallon a week per person. - Source US News, “One Sweet Nation

Now ... cutting back and cutting out sugar may not be easy BUT if you are sick & tired of feeling sick & tired, a "sugar fast" is a vital and FREE self-test. I dare you! Join me and take a week off from your little white friend … keep a journal – notice & note how you feel. Then add another week ...

Like any addiction the first 3 days are the hardest. After that comes the urges - just breathe deeply for a couple of minutes until the urge leaves and keep on tuckin' baby!

Benefits of Flax: Richest source of omega fatty acids and lignans (potent cancer fighters) known in nature. Emerging scientific evidence demonstrating health benefits of omega-3 fats, particularly omega-3s from fish and flaxseed sources, has been a popular topic in recent news. Scientific claims have been made regarding the relationship between eating plans high in omega-3s and decreased incidence of diseases and disease symptoms. Heart disease, depression, asthma, arthritis, and lupus are just a few of the conditions that have been reported as benefiting from omega-3 intake. Additional benefits of flax include constipation relief and clearing up acne.
Note: It is recommended that you not consume more that 3 tablespoons per day.

Adrenal Fatigue - Easy Afternoon Energy Boost

Try this - it is working great for me.

Around 2:00 p.m. have a little snack (any nuts - sunflower seeds, cashews) PLUS 1,000 mg of Vitamin C complex + 200 mg. magnesium + pantothenic acid. I bought these as separate supplements but it is more convenient and cost effective to purchase them directly from Dr. James Wilson, click here.

You actually have to change them yourself ...

"They always say time changes things, but you actually have to change them yourself." - Andy Warhol

This goes for everything ... including and especially our health & energy level. Three things I have changed are my diet (little by little); getting more rest and I have added great vitamin supplements.

What about you? Change is too difficult. What new energizing habit will you form? For ideas and resources click here.

A Little Salt With Your Water?

According to Dr. James Wilson, author, Adrenal Fatigue The 21st Century Stress Syndrome

"Water poses a specific problem for people with adrenal fatigue because they tend toward dehydration but can easily over dilute the circulating electrolytes in our blood by drinking too much water."

Bottom Line Recommendation: Add 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon salt to every glass of drinking water. This is working well and tastes good to me.

Just 30 Extra Minutes ...

According to a Boston University study, getting an extra thirty minutes of sleep each night will cut your risk of diabetes 41%. And ... being well rested lowers cortisol production - this helps prevent osteoporosis. You can't loose with a little extra snooze. (I couldn't resist that!)

Note: Cortisol is a stress hormone. For more info on this topic, tune into an interview with Dr. Ann Louise Gittleman, author, "Hot Times: How to Eat Well, Live Healthy and Feel Sexy During The Change."

Are you drinking enough - water?

Remember the 'ol 8 glasses of water a day guideline? I was convinced that I drank plenty of water until I set out to drink those 8 glasses a day. Discovered that I was really drinking a lot of coffee & a little tea & an itsy bitsy bit of water.

Guess what one of the symptons of dehydration is? Poor concentration/fatigue ... Others include: Headaches * Constipation * Reduced urine output or dark urine.

Wait! There's more - like this fun fact: The brain is 83 per cent water. Lack of water can cause depression, dementia, anxiety, confusion, delirium and aggravation.

So, drink up my friends & energize! For more information, click here

Energizing Tips from the Wild Business Women Tribe!

Here is a growing list of Energizing Tips from the Wild Business Women Tribe!

Feel free to chime in - share one of your own - or ask for support ... you are not alone!

May sound a bit radical but my tip is to QUIT! Review your life and "chores" and obligations and drop one or two of them.

Just sit still and BE for a few minutes a day. No TV, cell phone, regular phone, radio, iPod, etc.

Often we're stressed because we're on overload and trying to do too much.

Stop doing the unnecessary. Focus your time and energy and attention on those things that really, really matter -- and let the rest of it go.
